Analysis of immune complexes by capillary electrophoresis

Abstract: A simple method for immune complexes (IC) analysis by CE is described. This method combines the ease of precipitation of the IC by polyethylene glycol with the separation power of CE. The advantage of this method is a better quantitation of the IC, since it corrects and eliminates the interferences from other serum proteins. It also reveals the composition (monoclonality) of the precipitate. Three types of IC have been detected in this method: monoclonal, polyclonal and mixed (mono-polyclonal) IC. Furthermore,… Show more

“…The development time that would need to be invested to create a separate ACE method for each ChIP grade antibody would be long and costly for a research lab interested in using the purchased material immediately. Furthermore, most ChIP grade antibodies are polyclonals; unlike monoclonals, they produce broad peaks, sometimes multiple ones, on a capillary electropherogram (Shihabi 2008), making it difficult to resolve and identify pure antibodies from contaminated ones.…”
