Analysis of gravity anomaly and seismicity in Bali region

Abstract: This study aims to determine the value of the gravity anomaly in the Bali region, identify the fault structure in the Bali region using gravity interpretation and analyze the relationship between gravity anomaly and seismicity in the Bali region. The data used is secondary data, namely satellite gravity anomaly data obtained from the topex website and earthquake data obtained from the Indonesian Agency for Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysics (BMKG) catalog. Data processing in this study was done usi… Show more

“…The cross-section is used to see the condition of the surface contours in the area where the cross-section line passes. The image also shows a complete Bouguer anomaly 3D contour, and the regional and residual anomaly will be separated using the moving average filter [16].…”

“…Furthermore, the data is carried out Bouguer correction, free air correction, field correction to obtain complete Bouguer anomaly data. The complete Bouguer anomaly data is grid which will then be analyzed for spectrum to determine the estimated depth of the research area using Oasis Montaj software (Abrianto et al, 2021). After performing spectrum analysis, the regional and residual anomalies will then be separated using the Bandpass filter in Oasis Montaj software.…”

“…Our observations align with the fact that earthquakes in the JF and its surrounding area are located primarily within density difference zones resulting from lateral density in homogeneity. Tobing et al (2021) analyzed the relationship between gravity anomalies and seismic activity and concluded that regions with higher rock densities exhibited higher levels of seismic activity. Examining the density characteristics of the physical properties in the study area (Table 1), the density characteristics in the study show that the JF hanging wall consists of Neoproterozoic gneissic granodiorite with a relatively high density of 2.650 g/cm 3 .…”
