Analysis of Filter Bank Multi-Carrier system for 5G communications

Abstract: The FBMC now days preferred for 5 th Generation communication system. In this paper a detail analysis on Filter bank multi-carrier system for different cases. In FBMC that represents the transmitted data through IFFT available spectral bandwidth into sub-bands. The digital frequency response of the filter simulates for 5G communications with better response.

“…FBMC technique has several advantages compared to the OFDM technique, such as (i) Less radiation outside the required bandwidth, (ii) signal must be transmitted without cyclic prefix (iii) High robust for environmental problems. Furthermore, because of pulse shaping filters, FBMC has lower spectral side lobes than traditional OFDM systems, implying that the FBMC has customizable parameters and asynchronous transmission capabilities [6]. OFDM/offset quadrature amplitude modulation (OFDM/OQAM) has been considered an appealing alternative to traditional OFDM due to higher spectrum efficiency brought about by removing CP and lower out-of-band radiation using a specially designed filter bank [7].…”

“…The first case is the basic FBMC framework with single input single output (SISO) model based upon Quadrature Amplitude modulation for 256 subcarriers and an overlapping factor K = 4. The E b N0 is set for the range of [−5, 25]dB, resulting in SNR range as, For AWGN: [−5, −2], [−2, 1], [1,4], [4,7] dB For SUI-4: [−3, 4], [4,11], [11,18], [18,25] dB Throughput: R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 [2,4], [4,6], [6,8], [8,10] Mbps…”

“…Few significant benefits are less radiation outside the required bandwidth, the signal must be transmitted without cyclic prefix, and high environmental robustness. In addition, pulse shaping filters ensure that the FBMC can change parameters and asynchronous transmission with lower spectral side lobes than traditional OFDM systems [14].…”
