The design phase is the most important phase in determining the green performance of building projects. The performance of the design team is crucial. The growing importance of sustainability globally necessitates the inclusion of green criteria in the design team selection process. Therefore, a competent design teams is required to have a range of attributes as the basis for design decisions. The propose of this study to identify current green design performance level of design teams of building projects and establish key design attributes influencing green design performance. To achieve mentioned aim a questionnaire survey was conducted to collect dada required. A sample of 274 respondents has been covered under the study, including architects and engineers practicing design and consultancy building sectors. Prior to analysis of data WINSTEPS software were used to determine validity and reliability of date. Descriptive analysis data includes quantitative and qualitative. In general, design team attributes were moderate (3.32). The general design team attributes were high such experience (3.81), communication (3.43) and leadership effectiveness (3.48). However, green attributes of design team were moderate such as green knowledge (2.98), green skills (3.13) and green initiatives (2.84).The result indicates that most design teams have inadequate knowledge and skills to produce high green design performance of building projects. Therefore, to overcome green design complexity, careful selecting design team members and more education and training courses on green building are required to deal with green design requirements.

RESUMO: Com o objetivo de identificar os fatores relacionados com a Gestão do Design (GD) na prática, esta investigação realizou uma pesquisa-ação com cinco companhias brasileiras desenvolvedoras de produtos e atuantes em diferentes segmentos de mercado. Para tanto, foram desenvolvidas 22 atividades que envolveram gestores e colaboradores dessas organizações. As ações foram realizadas através de uma prática integrada em que estavam presentes, ao mesmo tempo, os integrantes das cinco empresas. Ao longo das implementações, foram identificados importantes fatores processuais (descritos como fatores críticos de sucesso, inputs e outputs) e humanos (denominados como vetores positivos, negativos e principais atores) compreendidos como influenciadores do processo de implementação da GD em companhias. Além deles, observaram-se distintos papéis dentre os envolvidos nos níveis estratégico, tático e operacional das companhias e os impactos que eles possuem na dimensão global das organizações. Desta forma, este artigo se propõe a discutir tais resultados e, ao final, busca fazer uma inter-relação entre eles. PALAVRAS-CHAVE:Gestão do Design; Aplicação Integrada Prática; Empresas.ABSTRACT: This research aimed to identify factors related to Design Management (DM) in practice, and carried out an action research with five Brazilian companies that make products and are active in different Market segments. We developed 22 activities that involved managers and employees of these organizations, which portrayed an integrated practice that involved all companies at the same time. Along these implementations we identified procedural and behavioral factors that influenced on the implementation of DM. Besides, we observed distinct roles among involved members, and specific impacts that they have on the organization. Thus, this article main propose is to discuss these factors and related all results.

Purpose -The purpose of this paper is to investigate how to measure collaborative design performance and, in turn, improve the final design output during a design process, with a clear objective to develop a design performance measurement (DPM) matrix to measure design project team members' design collaboration performances. Design/methodology/approach -The methodology adopted in this research uses critical literature reviews, in-depth focus group interviews and a questionnaire survey. Findings -The main finding of this study is a DPM matrix that addresses five DPM indicators: efficiency, effectiveness, collaboration, management skill, and innovation, and 25 detailed DPM criteria. It was found that decision-making efficiency is the most important DPM criterion for collaborative design efficiency; plus delivering to the brief for effectiveness; clear team goal/objectives for collaboration; decision-making ability for management skill; and competitive advantage for innovation. Research limitations/implications -As the present study was focused on exploring DPM during a design process, some key DPM criteria which are not measurable during a design development process were not included in this study. The proposed multi-feedback approach for DPM matrix implementation needs to be validated in future research. Practical implications -The DPM matrix can be applied to support a design manager in measuring and improving collaborative design performance during a design process, by reviewing and modifying collaborative design development, identifying the design team strengths and weaknesses, improving team communication, and suggesting suitable responsive actions. Originality/value -The major contribution of this study is the investigation and development of a DPM matrix to measure collaborative design performance during a design process.
