The diagnosis of diseases of the respiratory, lung, and air sacs generally uses radiographic images by radiologists. Therefore, the results are very subjective, causing differences in the interpretation and diagnosis among different radiologists. A radiographic image reading needs to be made in the form of a simple, fast, and accurate algorithm. The study aimed to reduce subjectivity and be easily carried out by radiology medical personnel, especially veterinarians. This study carried out density measurements by image processing using ImageJ software on 14 radiographic images of broiler chickens. Furthermore, the density value is associated with the Ansel Adam's - grayscale system to determine the opacity of respiratory tract tissues/organs, which were previously inhaled by one of them with chitosan-iopamidol nanoparticles using a nebulizer. The results of density measurements for the category of opacity in radiographic images are that seven spot areas lead brighter (radiopaque) only in chickens that are inhaled mist maker of chitosan-iopamidol nanoparticles. Then the determination of the value range is obtained average value on two ventrodorsal radiographic images, which are inhaled by mist maker of chitosan-iopamidol nanoparticles and chitosan nanoparticle compressor. The conclusion of this study was only in chickens that were infested with mist maker chitosan-iopamidol, whose radiographic image had a radiopaque spot and middle-value area.

Lesi periapikal adalah lesi yang berada di daerah apikal dan dapat dirawat dengan perawatan endodontik untuk mencapai penyembuhan. Proses penyembuhan lesi periapikal dapat dievaluasi dengan pemeriksaan radiografis dengan menggunakan radiograf periapikal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perubahan gambaran yang terjadi pada proses penyembuhan lesi periapikal pada radiograf periapikal menggunakan software ImageJ. Metode: Metode penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang menggunakan 30 arsip radiograf periapikal pada saat diagnosis, pengisian, dan kontrol perawatan endodontik yang terdapat di Instalasi PPDGS Konservasi Gigi RSGM Unpad. Proses penyembuhan ini dilihat dari luas dan densitas lesi dengan menggunakan software ImageJ. Hasil: Nilai rata-rata pengurangan ukuran luas lesi sebesar 13,25±10,77 mm2 dan peningkatan densitas rata-rata sebesar 9,95±7,26% yang dilihat dari foto diagnosis, pengisian, dan kontrol. Simpulan: Gambaran penyembuhan lesi periapikal terjadi pengurangan ukuran luas lesi terbesar pada tahap diagnosis ke pengisian dan peningkatan densitas terbesar pada tahap pengisian ke kontrol pada perawatan endodontik yang dilihat dari radiograf periapikal menggunakan software ImageJ.

Periodontitis is typically associated with disorders characterized by compromised tooth-supporting tissue. Damage to periodontal tissue is caused by an imbalance between matrix metalloproteinases and their inhibitors. Decreased tissue inhibitor and elevated matrix metalloproteinase levels result in collagen connective tissue and bone degradation. Several studies have shown that high levels of matrix metalloproteinase-13 (MMP-13) and low levels of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) are also found in gingival crevicular fluid and saliva of patients with periodontitis. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of MMP-13 levels, TIMP-1 levels of saliva and bone density in patients with chronic periodontitis before and after scaling and root planning (SRP). The study samples were selected from patients who came for treatment at the Periodontics Installation of Universitas Sumatera Utara. A total of 16 patients were selected (n = 16) with a diagnosis of chronic periodontitis. The result showed that salivary MMP-13 levels in chronic periodontitis patients before SRP were higher than salivary MMP-13 levels after SRP and the difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). It was also revealed that salivary TIMP-1 levels and alveolar bone density in chronic periodontitis patients before SRP were lower than that after SRP and the difference was statisticallysignificant (p < 0.05). There was a positive correlation between clinical parameters and salivary MMP-13 levels in patients with chronic periodontitis before and after SRP, but it was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). There was a negative correlation between clinical parameters and salivary TIMP-1 levels in patients with chronic periodontitis before and after SRP, but it was not statistically significant (p > 0.05).
