The mangrove ecosystem of Lusi Sidoarjo Island has uniqueness and beauty with great potential to be developed as an education and conservation-based tourism. The main step that can be taken in efforts to develop mangrove tourism is identifying regional conditions and potentials through carrying capacity analysis. Carrying capacity analysis is needed to anticipate excess visitors who can potentially cause damage to the tourism environment. This study carried out in June – July 2022, aimed to analyze the potential and carrying capacity of mangrove ecosystems on Lusi Island as an education and conservation-based tourism. The method used in this study is descriptive quantitative by collecting data through observation, interviews, and field surveys. The calculation was made to determine the carrying capacity of the area. The results showed that the area's carrying capacity was 360 visitors/day with a diverse potential for mangroves, flora, fauna, and abundant content of metals and minerals based on XRD and XRF analysis, and literature studies. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be interpreted that Lusi Sidoarjo Island has a great amount of potential to be developed as an education and conservation-based tourism.

Lumpur panas Sidoarjo merupakan salah satu bencana luapan lumpur panas yang memiliki dampak signifikan di Indonesia terhitung sejak 29 Mei 2006. Adanya bencana ini banyak menimbulkan kerugian kesehatan, lingkungan hingga ekonomi. Akan tetapi,dibalik kerugian tersebut ternyata terdapat banyak kandungan mineral dalam lumpur luapan yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai contoh silika. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui kandunganmineral terutama silika dalam lumpur panas Sidoarjo yang dapat berpotensi sebagai sumbersilika sintesis. Sampel diambil pada permukaan lumpur panas Sidoarjo dengan radius 500 m, 1000 m, dan 2000 m dari pusat semburan. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) dan XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) dimana sampel ditempatkan dalam sampleholder dan diradiasi menggunakan sinar-X. Berdasarkan uji XRF, pada masing-masing radius diperoleh kandungan silika sebesar 45,0% (radius 500 m), 45,3% (radius 1000 m), dan 43,3% (radius 2000 m) yang merupakan senyawa oksida dengan kandungan terbesar. Hasil uji XRD juga menunjukkan kesesuaian dengan hasil uji XRF, dimana fase yang paling dominan dalam lumpur panas Sidoarjo pada semua radius adalah fase kuarsa (SiO2). Berdasarkan kedua hasil ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kandungan mineral lumpur panas Sidoarjo pada 3 radius berbeda memiliki kandungan yang relatif sama dan dapat berpotensi sebagai sumber silika yang bermanfaat dalam bidang pangan, industri, hingga dalam bidang katalis.

The Sidoarjo Hot Mud is a phenomenon of mudflow caused by exploration activities of PT. Lapindo Brantas since 2006. The purpose of this article is to provide information related to the empowerment of the Sidoarjo Hot Mud which has the potential as alternative source of renewable energy: source of electrical energy and biodiesel catalyst. Based on XRF results on samples at two locations: the center of the eruption and Lusi Island, it showed that there were various metallic elements and oxide minerals. Based on the results, the Sidoarjo Hot Mud from the center of the eruption resulted in potential difference of 8.8 V and electric power of 7.07135 watts/hour (8 circuits). The hot mud samples of Lusi Island produced potential difference of 4.38 V and electric power of 3.5196 watts/hour (3 circuits); 5.84 V and 4.6928 watts/hour (4 circuits). The silica mineral in the center of the eruption was 45.0% (radius 500 m), 45.3% (radius 1000 m), and 43.3% (radius 2000 m), while on Lusi Island it was 43.8%. Based on these results, the Sidoarjo mud has the potential to be used as a source of renewable energy in Indonesia, as a source of electrical energy and for synthesis for biodiesel catalyst.
