Análise temporal da fragmentação florestal na região semiárida de Sergipe

Abstract

RESUMO: O presente estudo teve como objetivo quantificar as mudanças estruturais na paisagem da vegetação de caatinga no semiárido Sergipano ocorridas entre 1992 e 2013 usando dados de sensores remotos e métricas de paisagem. Imagens do satélite Landsat foram utilizadas para a classificação de floresta (vegetação de caatinga) e não floresta (outros usos da terra) na área de estudo. As métricas de paisagem foram estimadas com o uso do software Fragstats ® . Os resultados deste estudo indicam um aumento da fragmentação (13,7%) da vegetação de caatinga no período 1992-2003. Além disso, houve uma redução da área central dos fragmentos no período de 2003-2013 (38,1%) e redução de 11,2 e 42,9% da área total de classe floresta nos períodos ABSTRACT: This study aimed to estimate the landscape structural changes of caatinga vegetation in the Sergipe semiarid region occurred between 1992 and 2013 by using remotely sensed data and landscape metrics. Landsat satellite images were used to classify forest (caatinga vegetation) and non-forest (other land uses) in the study area. The landscape metrics were estimated using the Fragstats ® software. This study results estimated an increase of fragmentation (13.7%) of the caatinga vegetation during the time-period of 1992-2003. Additionally, we estimated a decrease of the central patch area of caatinga during the time-period of 2003-2013 (38.1%) and a decrease of 11.2 and 42.9% of the total area of forest class during the time-periods of 1992-2003 and 2003-2013, respectively. The remaining patches of caatinga vegetation must be appropriately considered as a high priority for conservation and it will require strong command and control policies and environmental law enforcement to avoid further deforestation and caatinga fragmentation in the study region.
