The recent development of big data analytics (BDA) and the Internet of Things (IoT) technologies create a huge opportunity for both disaster management systems and disaster-related authorities (emergency responders, police, public health, and fire departments) to acquire state-of-the-art assistance and improved insights for accurate and timely decision-making. The motivation behind this research is to pave the way for effective utilization of the available opportunities that the BDA and IoT collaboratively offer to predict, understand and monitor disaster situations. Most of the conventional disaster management systems lack the support for multiple new data sources and real-time big data processing tools that can assist decision makers with quick and accurate results. This paper highlights the importance of BDA and IoT for disaster management and investigates recent studies directed towards the same. We classify a thematic taxonomy with several related attributes and inspect the prevalent solutions to propose a conceptual reference model for the deployment of BDA-and IoT-based disaster management environments. The reference model with its proposed integrated parameters can provide guidelines to harvest, transmit, manage, and analyze disaster data from various data sources to deliver updated and valuable information for disaster management. We also enumerate some important use cases from a disaster management perspective. Finally, we highlight the main research challenges that need to be addressed in such an important field of research. Although a standalone and isolated mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is practical in many scenarios, integration with the Internet is much more advantageous. The integration of a MANET with the Internet provides MANET users with Internet access and hence increases the scope of the MANET application. In addition, the Internet can benefit from this integration by an extension of the network coverage area. However, the integration of heterogeneous networks raises many issues. To overcome the incompatibilities between different architectures, gateways are used. This paper proposes a lightweight integration scheme for a MANET and the wider Internet, based on the optimized link state routing (OLSR). OLSR routing messages are reengineered and optimized to meet the needs of integration without involving additional routing messages for gateway discovery. The compulsory registration of a MANET node with a gateway node in a traditional integration is not required in the proposed approach, meaning that nodes can move freely within the local MANET with no disruption in the connection to another node in the external network. The proposed system is evaluated using the OMNET++ network simulator and is compared to another existing system. The simulation results demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach.

Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a network of heterogeneous and homogeneous wireless mobile nodes to offer provisionally communication facilities to users for the exchange of data packets without having the well-established infrastructure in a limited geographical area. Resourceconstrained mobile nodes are not a permanent part of the network instead mobile nodes are individualistically can join or leave the network at any time. Network topology, connectivity of nodes and routing information change dynamically based on multi-hop routing. The main focus of this research work is to evaluate the performance of DSR, TORA reactive routing protocols and OLSR proactive routing protocol of MANET under augmentation of Nodes Density investigation based on Random Way Point (RWP) mobility model. DSR, TORA, and OLSR protocols are simulated by using OPNET modeler 14.5 by creating three different scenarios. These protocols are compared and analyzed with respect to Wireless LAN delay, Wireless LAN throughput, Wireless LAN network load, Routing traffic send and Routing traffic received.
