An integrated software system for quality assurance‐related kappa coefficient analysis of intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography interpretive skills

Abstract: Summary: This report describes the development of a quality assurance-oriented integrated software system designed for an anesthesiology-based intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography service. Entry data include patient and operation demographics, two-dimensional echocardiographic, saline-contrast, and color flow/pulsed Doppler assessments of the heart and great vessels, presented in a defined sequence. A statistical analysis component (kappa coefficient analysis) allows for comparison of inhaoperative … Show more

“…We previously described an integrated software program designed to maintain a computer database of intraoperative TEE procedures which was consistent with these additional requirements (Rafferty et al 1992(Rafferty et al , 1993b. That program involved design, coding and implementation of a database entry form using Object Vision ® and Paradox 1.0 ® (Borland International, Inc., Scott's Valley, CA).…”
