An Integrated Analysis of Cashmere Fineness lncRNAs in Cashmere Goats

Abstract: Animal growth and development are regulated by long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). However, the functions of lncRNAs in regulating cashmere fineness are poorly understood. To identify the key lncRNAs that are related to cashmere fineness in skin, we have collected skin samples of Liaoning cashmere goats (LCG) and Inner Mongolia cashmere goats (MCG) in the anagen phase, and have performed RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) approach on these samples. The high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics analyses identified 437 no… Show more

“…Empirical Bayes sequencing analysis identified 11 down-regulated and 32 up-regulated circRNAs in embryos with black fur skin and white fur skin of mice, and these circRNAs may play a role in skin pigmentation 28 . The effects of mRNA and lncRNA have been reported on the skin and hair follicles 29,30 , but there are few studies on the effect of circRNAs on the fineness of cashmere and cashmere growth.…”

“…Indeed, KRTDAP and CST6 are highest expressed in Cluster 9. Notably, KRT35 and KRTAP11-1, may be related to cashmere character 12 , whereas in goat their expressions are confined to Dermal papilla cells. Additionally, LEF1 is considered to be a hair-inducing gene of dermal papilla cells 13 .…”

“…Moreover, many hair follicle-related genes were identified in this study. For example, WDR74 and WNT10A were related to hair follicle morphogenesis [ 43 ], and LRRC14 regulates hair follicle induction [ 45 ] and inhibits NF-kB activation [ 58 ]; therefore, these genes may regulate hair follicle induction and are important for hair follicle and epidermal appendage development [ 59 ].…”
