The growing need for rational use of natural resources becomes crucial in all sectors of the current economy. Minimizing the use of materials in construction is becoming an important design aspect. One of the interdisciplinary design methods is geometry optimization, which, thanks to modern computational methods, brings the desired material reduction in constructions. The article examines the impact of using the form-finding method on the example of preliminary geometrical optimization of the reticulated structures. The influence of the dynamic relaxation and geometrical transformations in structure optimization and natural resource minimization is examined. The article aims to indicate the impact of optimization aspects on obtaining efficient load-bearing structures. The research was carried out on the example of a small-scale canopy. Case-studies compare fifteen different geometries generated with the use of mathematical and parametric formulas. The study’s conclusions indicate that interdisciplinary tools supporting the process of the initial design phase help in architectural design.

Digital fabrication leads architects and structural engineers to modify the design optimisation methodology. The designers, as never before, are facing new technologies developed in the search for new materials based, among others, on wood components and the improvement of manufacturing methods at the same time. In this process, the material and manufacturing technology adjustment to desired aesthetic outcomes is possible not only by the material used but also by the self-organisation of the structure's optimisation. New fabrication techniques linked with topology optimising software change traditional load-bearing systems designing using timber and wood-based materials. Multi-objective optimisation research indicates that timber might be a comprehensive material based on various applications from low-tech to cutting-edge contemporary fabrication technologies. The article presents new tools and methods for the optimisation of structural elements. A case study based on interdisciplinary architectural and structural optimisation suggests the possible effective research-based design. Comparing contemporary buildings with wood load-bearing structures explains timber usage's diversity and characteristics in modern design.

Injury to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the most common knee ligament injuries. The ACL injury is a sprain or tear of the anterior ligament (ACL). Effective exercises will reduce the risk of ACL injury. An ACL injury in athletes is a higher incidence than other general public, such as soccer, basketball, hockey, etc. The aim of this studywas to compare the effectiveness, recovery rate and variance in both knee-affected and non-affected muscle girth readings in supervised v/s unsupervised patient groups after the patient underwent ACL reconstruction surgery. The participants were divided into two groups(A-Supervised and B-Unsupervised) through a random sampling. The supervised exercise in group A performed according to the WILK protocol at RML hospital and un-superviseed group B performed the same WILK protocol at home. The ultrasound scans were performed after 2-4 weeks and 12-14 weeks post operation to measure the muscle girth in both the groups. The study findings indicated the significant difference in recovery rate as well as the difference in between supervisedv/s unsupervised groups i.e. the difference of affected and unaffected knees based on ultrasound imaging was higher in un-supervised group compared to supervised group (a difference of 2.3 mm in post-operation muscle girth after 12-14 weeks). The ultrasound reading of the muscle girth after 2-4 weeks post-operation showed a decline in the recovery of the muscle girth in both the groups (9% and 8% for supervised and un-supervised groups respectively). This reduction in the muscle girth value as compared to the pre-operative values was due to arthroscopic effect, which showed there was a transient deactivation of the muscle take place due to surgery. The ultrasound reading of the muscle girth after 12-14 weeks post-operation showed a different progressive recovery of the muscle girth in both the groups as 31% and 10% for supervised and un-supervised groups respectively .We concluded that supervised exercises was better than unsupervised exercises for the early recovery after ACL recontraction.
