An electrode material for electrochemical devices using Li+ion active superionic solid

Abstract: A study has been performed of the electrical transport properties of an Li3VO4:Li3PO4:Li3BO3 melt. The material is a mixed conductor and has a high electrical conductivity at room temperature ( sigma approximately 2.0*10-2 Omega -1 m-1). The dominant part in sigma is ionic. The material melts at 1135 K and is not hygroscopic. For these reasons, it qualifies to be used as electrode material in electrochemical devices using Li+ ion active superionic solids. The XRD pattern for the material has also been reported. Show more

“…Lithium vanadate (Li 3 VO 4 ) is a material suitable for applications in the fields of optics, electrochemistry, and electronics Li 3 VO 4 and other isostructural compounds (e.g., Li 3 PO 4 , Li 3 AsO 4 ) belong to a family of solid conducting electrolytes showing high conductivity (σ) in the γ-type form generally stable at high temperature (HT) . Song et al report a relatively high room-temperature (RT) conductivity for the βII form of both solid state and sol−gel Li 3 VO 4 samples.…”

“…1 For what concerns the transport properties, this compound behaves as a solid ionic-conducting electrolyte because of the high mobility of lithium ions in the structure.
