Purpose: This study explored whether instructional characteristics, learner characteristics, family socioeconomic status, and gender influence creativity in the context of programming education in China.Methods: A total of 851 upper-secondary-school students in Beijing, China, were surveyed using the Creativity Scale, Programming Learning Scale, Programming Teaching Scale and Family Socioeconomic Status Questionnaire. SPSS (version 22) was used for correlation analysis, t-test and regression analysis.Results: (1) Teachers’ programming teaching method and management; students’ programming learning approach, attitude, and engagement; gender; and family economic capital were all significantly associated with creativity. (2) There were significant differences between males and females in terms of creativity, programming learning approach and programming learning attitude. (3) Learner attitudes, engagement, and approach, and their family economic capital, were strong predictors of creativity, with the strongest influence of learners’ attitudes to programming learning and weaker influence of family economic capital.Conclusion: The main factors that influence creativity in the context of programming education are programming teaching method, programming teaching management, programming learning approach, programming learning attitude, programming learning engagement and family economic capital. Among these, learner factors (attitude, engagement, and approach) and family economic capital are the key factors influencing creativity. These findings provide a basis for improving the creativity of Chinese programming learners and inspire teachers to consider learner factors and gender differences as they design and manage their instruction. Furthermore, the influence of family economic capital on the creativity of learners cannot be ignored.

With the rapid evolution of interactive technology, the popularity of mobile augmented reality (MAR) as a learning aid has continued to grow. However, several studies have revealed that research on the impact of AR in the educational domain is both insufficient and in an early phase. More studies are required to evaluate the effectiveness of utilizing MAR in this domain. The purpose of this study was to measure the effect of a mobile training course designed using MAR on trainees’ motivation. We reviewed the associated concepts, highlighted the importance and effectiveness of MAR and explained the benefits and challenges of employing MAR in the educational domain. This study drew on John Keller’s motivational model components and emphasized the significance of intrinsic motivation. We used a quantitative approach and designed a mobile training course that uses MAR to train government employees in Oman. A total of 32 employees were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group used the designed application, and the control group took a training course online via computers. A motivational survey was conducted, and SPSS statistical software was used for data analysis. The results revealed that there was a significant difference in the mean motivation value for the experimental group: the trainees from the experimental group were more motivated than those from the control group. This study confirms that learners are motivated to participate in mobile training courses designed using MAR, which can contribute to the development of human resources in various domains.

The COVID-19 pandemic has paved the way for rapid technological advancements, bringing about significant changes in teaching and learning methods. Augmented Reality (AR), an emerging technology, has emerged as an effective approach to improve the user experience and comprehension by providing a realistic view of concepts data structure objects. Educators have been actively working to transition from traditional or conventional learning styles to the process of learning using augmented reality application in order to improve the effectiveness of the level education system. This transition aims to improve individual students' learning, motivation, and facilitate more effective teamwork and group cooperation. One crucial course for computer science students is Data Structure and Algorithm (DSA), which serves as a prerequisite for several other courses. DSA poses challenges as it provides crucial concepts for programmers in efficiently handling data. A solid foundation in data structure and algorithm influences programmers able to efficiently write and develop cost for the effective solutions. However, many computer science students, especially those lacking a strong programming background, struggle to grasp the concepts of algorithm in DSA. This difficulty in understanding DSA concepts often leads to apprehension among students, making them hesitant to pursue a career as programmers after graduation. This research aims to address these challenges and has identified several objectives to achieve its goal. The objectives include analyzing and designing application features that attract students to learn DSA in an interactive manner, developing an AR application that facilitates user-application interaction, and investigating the effectiveness of the AR application in terms of usability, acceptability during the DSA learning process.
