An Annotation-Based Access Control Model and Tools for Collaborative Information Spaces

Abstract: Abstract. We present an Annotation-Based Access Control model supported by a Collaboration Vocabulary (CoVoc) as a more flexible and user-centric access control approach in social platforms and shared workspaces. We present also briefly two SOA-based tools for enabling our approach: Uncle-Share is a gadget that provides annotation-based access control for bookmarks and uses CoVoc for annotating collaborative relationships. Who-With-Whom uses also CoVoc and visualizes extended social networks in order to help u… Show more

“…It is not true as 15 Limitations exceeded by the W3C Media Fragment Working Group (MFWG) who discussed the need for various new HTTP headers in order to process URI+fragment requests (an issue raised by fragment parameters being stripped off from URIs by Web browsers and the issue of caching Web proxies). 16 [17]. We express our sincere thanks to Michel Buffa and Catherine Faron for calling our attention to this matter.…”

“…Hence, tags, instead of "information resources" [2], traditionally a word or group of words embedded in a hyperlink, might be better understood as non-information resources. Tags are sometimes taken to be no different from any HTML <a> element except for the fact that a tag may receive additional markup (the rel="tag" microformat in particular 17 , to indicate that the link is a tag). 18 While the tagged resource in NiceTag basic schema ( fig.1) espouses the many distinctions drawn in IRW ontology, it remains clear, however, that this is in no way tantamount to loosening the identity criteria of tag actions.…”

“…In the Ecospace architecture, FOAF with Collaborative Vocabulary (CoVoC) [17] extensions is used as the basic eProfessional user model. CoVoC is a vocabulary developed within the project, which extends generic relationshipvocabularies, such as REL-X 2 and RELATIONSHIP.…”

“…This step involves the analysis and synthesis of all the collated data from the various instantiations of the first 8 steps necessary to define an evaluation methodology that assessed the quality attributes of the CERA reference architecture and its potential risks. The devised methodology was derived from the evaluation methodology [17] used to assess distributed virtual environment systems. The resulting methodology consisted of the same 10 steps, but adapted to the domain of CWE as demonstrated in the outline of Table 5.…”

“…This model may be vulnerable to malicious users' collision since one can gain faked tags from partner users. Nasirifard et al [11] proposed an annotation-based access control model for collaborative and social platforms. The model also uses the concept of "tagging" for annotating shared resources and is applicable in multiple Web-based collaboration systems.…”
