Ameliorative Effects of Infantile Feire Kechuan Oral Solution on Mycoplasma Pneumoniae Pneumonia in Infant Mouse and Rat Models

Abstract: Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infection is a major pathogen of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in children worldwide. Infantile Feire Kechuan Oral Solution (IFKOS) has been used for the treatment of MP pneumonia clinically in China for many years. The present study was designed to investigate the therapeutic effect of IFKOS on MP pneumonia and explore the potential mechanism of the actions. The infant BALB/c mouse and Wistar rat models of MP infection were successfully established to confirm the therapeutic ef… Show more

“…Blood (5 mL) was collected from the abdominal aorta and placed in an anticoagulant vacuum blood container without additives. The blood samples were centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 10 min, and the serum was stored at À20 C for analysis (Guo et al 2018). The right lung was ligated, and normal saline was injected from the trachea to the left lung twice, 1.5 mL each time.…”

“…TCMOLs have been used not only for MPP but also for other acute upper respiratory infections (Gao et al, 2015). In addition, TCMOLs may also have anti-inflammatory, immunoregulation, and IgM response-suppressive effects (Guo et al, 2018;Shi et al, 2020). Although some studies have reported on the effects of TCMOLs, the TCMOL with highest efficacy against MPP in children has not been identified.…”

“…Infantile mycoplasmal pneumonia is one of the main causes of respiratory infection in children (2). If not treated in time, it may cause bronchiectasis, atelectasis and pulmonary interstitial brosis, and even death in severe cases (3).…”

“…At present, the etiology of infantile pneumonia is not completely clear, which might be associated with the humoral and cellular immunity of the children (3). Therefore, anti-infection and symptomatic treatment are the main therapeutic approaches.…”
