“…The results offered by a published study expressed that GA (20 mg/kg, for seven days) isolated from Peltiphyllum peltatum mitigated the serum levels of urea, Cr, uric acid, and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) in rats with NaF induced nephrotoxicity [41]. Moreover, the findings of our study have confirmed previous researches on the effects of other antioxidants in ameliorating kidney damages due to GM that can refer to aminoguanidine [42], gossypin [43], and nigella sativa [44]. Therefore, the protective roles of GA in reducing the levels of renal function markers and histopathological changes may be associated with its antioxidant activities, as reported in the present study and above-mentioned previous studies.…”

“…Concordant with previous literatures, 26,27 the current study demonstrated several histological and ultrastructural changes along with significant deterioration of renal functions upon GM administration. On the other hand, vitamin D prevented most of these functional and histological disturbances.…”

“…In our experiment this finding was interpreted by the study of Toubeau et al [27] who stated that gentamicin could access the distal tubules with longer treatment period. Some areas of the renal cortex showed mononuclear cellular infiltration which was compatible with Katary and Salahuddin [28] who investigated the important role of the inflammation in gentamicin-induced renal injury and signified the elevated levels of inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and TNF-α besides their mRNA synthesis. Gentamicin is known to greatly reduce the level of NF-κB inhibitor (IkB-α) protein resulting in stimulation of inflammatory cytokines; TNF-α and IL-6 synthesis [29].…”
