Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA)

Abstract: Summary Allergic rhinitis is a worldwide health problem and prevalence of the disease is increasing, with economic and social consequences. An initiative from ARIA (Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma), an NGO working with the World Health Organization, has forwarded three main developments in the management of allergic rhinitis. Firstly, ARIA has provided new evidence‐based guidelines for the treatment of rhinitis that can be used worldwide, including in developing countries. The guidelines were design… Show more

“…The related research about allergen-induced respiratory symptoms and molecular mechanisms of allergic reactions have been conducted extensively, which has further led to the clinical practice of allergen-specific immunotherapy for respiratory allergies worldwide (Hurwitz, 1953). The worldwide delivery of guidelines and investigations via those organizations such as Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA), Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA), and GA 2 LEN has dramatically improved the recognition of allergies by doctors of related specialties (Bousquet et al, 2008;Kroegel, 2009;Newson et al, 2014). By contrast, although many dermatologic diseases are considered allergic, few dermatologists treat patients while considering allergen detection and avoidance.…”

“…Asthma and allergic rhinitis are linked epidemiologically and pathophysiologically (8,12). The two conditions frequently coexist, and allergic rhinitis has been identified as a risk factor for asthma (8,12). Inflammation of the nasal and bronchial airways is evident in both disorders, and it is hypothesized that they share a common inflammatory process that affects both the upper and lower airways (12).…”

“…В этой связи основной задачей имму-нотерапии можно рассматривать реверсирование актив-ности специфических Т-клеток от Тh2-Тh1 к Тh1-Тh2 [5]. Многолетний опыт проведения СИТ доказал долгосроч-ный эффект данного метода лечения [12,13].…”
