“…The genus Algoriphagus , a member of the family Cyclobacteriaceae , was proposed by Bowman et al (2003) to accommodate a Gram-negative, catalase-negative, oxidase-positive, small coccobacillus, Algoriphagus ratkowskyi . At the time of writing, the genus Algoriphagus was represented by 28 species with validly published names, isolated from various environments, including algae (Nedashkovskaya et al , 2004), a freshwater pipe (Rau et al , 2012), lakes (Van Trappen et al , 2004; Liu et al , 2009), seawater (Lee et al , 2012; Oh et al , 2012), tidal-flat sediments (Park et al , 2010; Li et al , 2011; Kang et al , 2013; Kim et al , 2014; Park et al , 2014) and soil (Yoon et al , 2006; Young et al , 2009).
