Staphylococcus epidermidis is a microbe that causes skin infections (acne). Infection can be overcome with the use of natural antibiotics. Previous studies have shown that patikan kebo plants with concentrations of 0,5%, 1%, 2%, 4%, 8%, have active antimicrobials. The preparation of starch kebo leaf extract ointment is made with 3 variations in concentration (5%, 10%, and 15%) with flavonoids, triterpenoids, alkaloids, and tannins. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the preparation of patikan kebo leaf extract ointment (Euphorbia hirta L.) has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis and determine the physical quality of the ointment preparation. The method used is experimental laboratory which is useful to determine the effect of patikan kebo leaf extract with concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15% on Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria in ointment preparations. Antibacterial tests are carried out using the sumuran diffusion method. Antibacterial test results with concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15% respectively are 9,00; 10,90 ; 13,60 mm has an influence on the inhibitory zone in Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. The results of the physical quality test found that formula 3 with a concentration of 15% has the highest bacterial inhibitory influence and has the longest adhesion.Analysis of the results of the physical quality evaluation of the adhesion test of ointment preparations showed a significant difference. While the dispersion test and viscosity test showed no significant difference.

Stability and Antibacterial Activity Test of Nanosilver Biosynthetic Hydrogel

Objective: This study aims to formulate nanosliver (AgNPs) biosynthetic hydrogel for topical antibacterial treatment and its stability and antibacterial activity. Methods: The mixture (Silver nitrate solution and Turmeric juice) was stirred at room temperature for 24 h; afterward, it was analyzed using UV-VIS spectrophotometry, particle size analysis, and TEM. The carbopol 940 was selected as a gelling agent with an AgNPs concentration of 5%, 10%, 20%, and 30%. Furthermore, the gel preparation was tested for stability using the cycling test method and antibacterial activity. The antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Results: The nanosilver biosynthetic has a yellow-brown color with the maximum wavelength peak at 433 nm, and a particle size of 157.4-166.7 nm. TEM analysis showed that AgNPs have a round shape, while the antibacterial activity of hydrogel preparations was moderately inhibited. Furthermore, the hydrogel was evaluated for pH, viscosity, dispersibility, and antibacterial activity before-after the cycling test. Formula with 30% AgNPs is chosen formula with pH value of 5.87±0.65; viscosity of 4833.3±2.82 c. Ps; and dispersibility of 5.50±0.15 after cycling test. Conclusion: The high concentration of AgNPs will increase the viscosity, pH, and dispersibility. Formula with 30% AgNPs have the highest antibacterial activity. Furthermore, all hydrogel preparations meet the requirements of Indonesian Standard Product (SNI) No. 06-2588-1992 for good gel stability before and after the cycling test.

This study aims to determine the acceleration of burn wound healing in rats given ethanol extract of turmeric rhizome (Curcuma Domestica Valet) gel and to see the granulation of the skin histopathology of rats. This research method is experimental with a post-test-only design. The research location is in the UNPRI Bio-Molecular Laboratory with 24 rat samples. Treated with Turmeric Rhizome Extract Gel with Concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% and Silver Sulvadizine as Positive Control and Gel as Negative Control. The results showed that the effectiveness of the best Turmeric Rhizome Extract Gel for wound healing was a concentration of 100% on the 21st day of 15 mm. the worst diameter was the negative control on the 21st day of 20 mm. This happens in the healing of burns because of the content of tannins and flavonoids. Measurement of the granulation tissue diameter on the histopathological picture with the results of a concentration of 100% with a thickness of 863 m. Hypothesis test Ha is accepted There is Effectiveness of Ethanol Extract of Turmeric Rhizome Extract (Curcuma Domestica VALET) in Healing Grade IIA Burns. Suggestion It is necessary to do further research related to the factors that cause weak anti-inflammatory and antibiotic Kunit rhizome Extract Gel against second-degree burns.
