Abstract: At the end of the 24th century, c.2300 ±30 bce , Sargon of Akkade (2324–2285 ±30 bce ) defeated Lugalzagesi, king of Uruk, unified the whole of Babylonia proper in a single territorial state, and laid the foundation of the Akkadian Empire.
