Furthermore, 16 papers were excluded for the following reasons: without any control group (Choudhary et al , 2018; Dhawan and Jain, 2004; Balliett and Burke, 2013) or placebo (Ho et al , 2016; Zarvandi et al , 2017; Jabbari et al , 2005), garlic was mixed with other product (Higashikawa et al , 2012; Singh et al , 2011; Zeb et al , 2012; Lopez et al , 2013; Sukandar, 2013; Arent et al , 2018), conducted on pregnant women (Faroughi et al , 2018) and children (Smyth et al , 2010), the full text was not available although an email was sent to the authors (Osgard et al , 2000; Shaikh et al , 2019).
