The low soil fertility associated with the lack of adequate irrigation management are factors that most limit crop production. Therefore, the study aimed to evaluate the chemical attributes of an Oxisol and the yield of ‘Paluma’ guava under irrigation with saline water and fertilized with phosphorus, cattle manure, and boron. The treatments were distributed in randomized blocks, with four repetitions and two plants per plot, including borders on the sides of the useful experimental area, arranged in a factorial scheme (5 × 2) + 1, referring to five phosphorus doses (0, 0.08, 0.16, 0.24 and 0.32 kg of P2O5 plant-1), two doses of cattle manure, 0 and 30 kg per plant and an additional treatment consisting of 0.16 kg of P2O5 plus 30 kg of cattle manure and 1.0 g of boron, using as source the borax. In the soil, pH, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and the cation exchange capacity were evaluated in the 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm layers. In plants, the average yield per hectare in two harvests was estimated. The pH decreased with phosphorus doses without cattle manure and in the treatment with boron in the 20-40 cm layer. The cation exchange capacity increased with the application of phosphorus doses associated with manure and decreased in both soil layers with boron. The macronutrients evaluated were not influenced by boron. Phosphorus doses associated with cattle manure increased yield, exceeding the average of 50 t ha-1 year-1 determined for ‘Paluma’ guava. In contrast, boron did not increased the yield.

Organic residue in the substrate and the availability of light influence the production of high-quality seedlings for ex situ cultivation of native forest species. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of doses of chicken manure incorporated in the soil and shading levels on the morphophysiological responses and quality of Alibertia edulis (Rich.) A. Rich seedlings. Five doses of chicken manure (CM) were tested, 0.00, 2.08, 4.16, 6.24, and 8.32 g CM kg-1 soil, under two shade conditions, 0% (full sun) and 50% shading. At 215 days after transplanting, the maximum height obtained for A. edulis was 47.35 cm with 5.64 g CM kg-1 soil under 50% shade. Shaded seedlings had a higher number of leaves. The maximum leaf and root areas were 796.64 and 118.83 cm2 with 5.32 and 4.21 g CM kg-1 soil, respectively, both under 50% shade. Seedlings in 0% shade had lower physiological indices. Shading levels did not affect stomatal limitation, but CM contributed to physiological efficiency. Shoot biomass was higher under 50% shade with higher CM doses. The highest quality indexes occurred with 3.98 and 6.28 g kg-1 CM under 0 and 50% shade, respectively. A. edulis seedlings responded positively to the addition of CM to the soil and presented plasticity under contrasting light conditions. A. edulis seedlings produced under 50% shading with the addition of 6.24 g CM kg-1 soil presented high morphophysiological and seedling quality indicators. The addition of 4.32 g CM kg-1 soil contributed to high seedling quality under full sun conditions.

RESUMOProdutos cosméticos a base dos extratos de plantas estão cada dia mais em evidência, pois nos últimos tempos percebe-se um aumento na procura por produtos que utilizam matérias primas vegetal. A goiabeira (Psidium guajava L.) é uma planta que possui em sua composição polifenóis que demonstram atividade antioxidante considerável, seu potencial faz da espécie promissora para produção de cosméticos a partir de seus extratos. Flavonoides, taninos e ácidos fenólicos são polifenóis encontrados na goiabeira, a presença desses antioxidantes naturais nos extratos das folhas é comprovada pela literatura a partir de doseamentos, avaliação da ação antioxidante por DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-picrilhidrazila) e ABTS (2,29-azino bis-(3-ácido etilbenzotiazolina-6-sulfônico) e comprovam a existência de compostos fenólicos nas estruturas das folhas, sendo matéria prima vegetal utilizada na produção de formulações cosméticas sustentáveis, como emulsões faciais anti-idades, creme fotoprotetor, séruns antioxidantes e tônicos anti-oleosidade. Logo, este estudo teve como objetivo realizar o levantamento bibliográfico dos polifenóis presentes nas folhas da goiabeira, suas ações biológicas e possível desenvolvimento de cosméticos.
