Background: Human Adenoviruses (HAdVs) are extensively used as vectors for vaccines development and cancer therapy. People who already have antibodies against HAdVs, on the other hand, would have an impact on the preventative or therapeutic effect. This review focuses primarily on the prevalence of pre-existing antibodies against HAdVs in distinct geographical populations. Summary: After screening, 64 studies from 31 countries between 1962 and 2021 were selected, totaling 39,427 samples. The total prevalence of pre-existing antibodies to HAdVs varied by country or location, ranging from 2.00% to 95.70%. Southeast Asia had the highest prevalence (54.57%) while Europe had the lowest (18.17%). The prevalence in practically all developing nations was higher than in developed nations. Adults have a greater frequency than children and newborns in most nations. The primary HAdV antibody types varied by country. Adults in China, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Belgium had the lowest prevalence of pre-existing antibodies against HAdV55, HAdV37, HAdV8, and HAdV36, respectively. Children in the United States, China, the United Kingdom, and Japan had the lowest rates of HAdV48, HAdV11, HAdV8, and HAdV40. The frequency of antibodies differed significantly between military and civilian groups. Key Messages: Pre-existing antibodies against various types of HAdVs differed greatly throughout worldwide populations. Future development of HAdV-vector vaccines and medicines should focus on pre-existing antibodies in target groups rather than a "one-size-fits-all" strategy. It might be advantageous in selecting HAdV vectors for studying the prevalence of pre-existing antibodies against HAdVs in different locations and people throughout the world.

Infection has recently started receiving greater attention as an unusual causative/inducing factor of obesity. Indeed, the biological plausibility of infectobesity includes direct roles of some viruses to reprogram host metabolism toward a more lipogenic and adipogenic status. Furthermore, the probability that humans may exchange microbiota components (virome/virobiota) points out that the altered response of IFN and other cytokines, which surfaces as a central mechanism for adipogenesis and obesity-associated immune suppression, is due to the fact that gut microbiota uphold intrinsic IFN signaling. Last but not least, the adaptation of both host immune and metabolic system under persistent viral infections play a central role in these phenomena. We hereby discuss the possible link between adenovirus and obesity-related nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The mechanisms of adenovirus-36 (Ad-36) involvement in hepatic steatosis/NAFLD consist in reducing leptin gene expression and insulin sensitivity, augmenting glucose uptake, activating the lipogenic and pro-inflammatory pathways in adipose tissue, and increasing the level of macrophage chemoattractant protein-1, all of these ultimately leading to chronic inflammation and altered lipid metabolism. Moreover, by reducing leptin expression and secretion Ad-36 may have in turn an obesogenic effect through increased food intake or decreased energy expenditure via altered fat metabolism. Finally, Ad-36 is involved in upregulation of cAMP, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, and p38 signaling pathways, downregulation of Wnt10b expression, increased expression of CCAAT/enhancer binding protein-beta, and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma 2 with consequential lipid accumulation.

Latar belakang: Obesitas merupakan kondisi akumulasi lemak berlebih yang diakibatkan konsumsi makanan yang melebihi kebutuhan dan berdampak buruk bagi kesehatan seperti resistensi insulin dan kematian. Prevalensi obesitas di Indonesia sebesar 21,8% dengan persentase obesitas di Jawa Tengah masih berada di atas capaian yaitu sebesar 6,32%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan kebiasaan sarapan dengan kejadian obesitas.Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian observasional dengan desain cross sectional. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara daring melalui sosial media meliputi instagram, twitter dan whatsapp dengan perhitungan sampel didapatkan 100 mahasiswa aktif tingkat sarjana. Variabel pada penelitian ini meliputi frekuensi sarapan, tingkat kecukupan energi, keragaman jenis pangan, dan obesitas. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis univariat dan bivariat dengan menggunakan uji chi-square dan fisher exact test. Hasil: Tingkat kecukupan gizi pada mahasiswa didapatkan tingkat kecukupan karbohidrat, lemak dan protein yang lebih sebesar 58%, 71% dan 89%. Sedangkan tingkat kecukupan serat mahasiswa yang cukup sebesar 50%. Hasil penelitian ini menggambarkan mahasiswa dengan tingkat kecukupan energi saat sarapan yang lebih cenderung tidak obesitas dibandingkan mahasiswa dengan tingkat kecukupan energi saat sarapan yang cukup.Simpulan: Penelitian ini menyimpulkan terdapat hubungan tingkat kecukupan energi dengan kejadian obesitas yang berarti semakin besar tingkat kecukupan energi sarapan maka mahasiswa cenderung tidak obesitasKata kunci: asupan sarapan, obesitas, mahasiswa ABSTRACTTitle: Correlation of Breakfast Intake on Adequacy of Nutrition and Incidence of Obesity in Students in Central JavaBackground: Obesity is a condition of excess fat accumulation caused by food consumption that exceeds needs and has a negative impact on health such as insulin resistance and death. The prevalence of obesity in Indonesia is 21.8% with the percentage of obesity in Central Java still above the achievement of 6.32%. This study aims to analyze the relationship between breakfast habits and the incidence of obesity.Methods: This study uses quantitative research with the type of observational research with a cross sectional design. Sampling was carried out online through social media including Instagram, Twitter and WhatsApp with a sample calculation of 100 active undergraduate students. The variables in this study include the frequency of breakfast, the level of energy adequacy, the diversity of food types, and obesity. This study used univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test and fisher's exact test.Results: The level of nutritional adequacy in students obtained levels of carbohydrate, fat and protein adequacy more than 58%, 71% and 89%. Meanwhile, the adequacy level of student fiber is 50%. The results of this study illustrate that students with sufficient energy levels at breakfast are more likely to be less obese than students with sufficient energy levels at breakfast.Conclusion: This study concludes that there is a relationship between the level of energy adequacy and the incidence of obesity, which means that the greater the level of energy adequacy for breakfast, the students tend not to be obese.Keywords: breakfast intake, obesity, college students
