Additive Effect of a Combination of Artocarpus lakoocha and Glycyrrhiza glabra Extracts on Tyrosinase Inhibition in Melanoma B16 Cells

Abstract: Artocarpus lakoocha (Al) and Glycyrrhiza glabra (Gg) extracts have been reported to show tyrosinase inhibitory activity and melanin pigment reduction. This is the first study to assess the combination of Al and Gg extracts in enhancing inhibition of tyrosinase and reduction of melanin pigments. Al and Gg extracted by maceration in 70% and 95% ethanol were analyzed for oxyresveratrol and glabridin using Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography. Extracts of Al and Gg singly and combinations of Al95 and Gg95 … Show more

“…Numerous studies of ORV were conducted on cellular tyrosinase. ORV showed suppression of melanogenesis in murine melanoma B16/B16-F10 cells [ 49 , 61 , 68 , 128 , 153 , 154 , 156 , 157 , 158 ] and human PIG1 melanocytes [ 152 ], all in a dose-dependent manner. ORV reduced tyrosinase-related protein-1 (TRP-1) and tyrosinase-related protein-2 (TRP-2) productions in B16-F10 cells via downregulation of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF) [ 68 ].…”

“…Oxyresveratrol compounds could work as antioxidants and stop the production of melanin in B16 melanoma cells. Based on what we know so far, they can also stop glucose transporters in human intestinal Caco-2 cells [ 77 , 78 , 79 ].…”

“…Recently, researchers have been dedicated to finding promising melanogenic reagents with no/mild side effects from plant natural products [ 11 , 12 , 13 ]. Natural tyrosinase inhibitors from plant sources have been reported, including simple phenols, phenolic acids, stillbenes, flavonoids, lignans, terpenoids, quinoids, etc.…”
