Cross-cultural translation of quality instruments in the organ donation process

Objective: To carry out the cross-cultural translation of quality instruments in the organ donation process from the National Transplantation Organization of Spain. Methods: Methodological research with quantitative approach conducted in three Neurology reference hospitals in the South of the country. The instruments validation was carried out by mean of the steps of translation, backtranslation, synthesis and expert committee. The reliability was conducted by means of interobserver equivalence and test and retest stability. Results: There was a 100% match among all the judges in 89% of the items in the cross-cultural translation (11% of the items were not equivalent). In the reliability analysis, the Kappa coefficients corresponded to 0.86 and 0.95. Conclusion: The versions of the instruments were considered valid and reliable for use by institutions that carry out the organ donation process in Brazil. ResumoObjetivo: Realizar a tradução transcultural dos instrumentos de qualidade do processo de doação de órgãos da Organização Nacional de Transplantes da Espanha. Métodos: Pesquisa metodológica de abordagem quantitativa, realizada junto a três hospitais de referência em Neurocirurgia na Região Sul do país. A validade dos intrumentos foi desenvolvida por meio das etapas de tradução, backtranslation, síntese e comitê de juízes. A fidedignidade foi realizada por meio da equivalência interobservadores e da estabilidade teste e reteste. Resultados: Houve 100% de equivalência, por todos os juízes, em 89% dos itens na tradução transcultural (11% dos itens foram não equivalentes). Os valores de Kappa, na fidedignidade, foram 0,86 e 0,95. Conclusão: As versões dos instrumentos foram consideradas válidas e confiáveis para serem utilizadas pelas instituições que realizam o processo de doação de órgãos no Brasil.

Esta revisión sistemática tuvo como objetivo: identificar y caracterizar los instrumentos de medición desarrollados en el contexto de la cardiología que fueron adaptados a la lengua portuguesa de Brasil. Se llevaron a cabo bús-quedas sistemáticas en seis bases de datos. Se extrajeron los datos sobre el proceso de adaptación cultural y las propiedades de medición. Para evaluar la calidad metodológica de los estudios, fueron utilizados criterios basados en las directrices internacionales para la adaptación cultural de instrumentos. Entre los 114 artículos encontrados, 14 fueron elegibles para su revisión. De los 14, la mayoría evaluaba la calidad de vida (35,7%) y los procesos de conocimiento / aprendizaje en salud (28,6%). La mayoría de los estudios incluyeron todas las etapas del proceso de adaptación recomendadas por la literatura. En relación a la medición de las propiedades, la consistencia interna, verificada por el alfa de Cronbach, fue la propiedad reportada en la mayoría de los estudios, así como la validez de constructo y la validez de criterio. Con este estudio, se espera brindar a la comunidad científica una cuidadosa evaluación de los cuestionarios adaptados disponibles en el contexto de la cardiología. Dentre os 114 artigos levantados, 14 foram considerados elegíveis para a revisão. Desses, a maioria avaliava qualidade de vida (35,7%) e conhecimento/ aprendizagem em saúde (28,6%). A maioria dos estudos contemplou todas as etapas do processo de adaptação recomendadas pela literatura. Com relação às propriedades de medida, a consistência interna, verificada por meio do alfa de Cronbach, foi a propriedade relatada na maioria dos estudos, bem como as validades de constructo e critério. Com este estudo, espera-se disponibilizar para a comunidade científica uma avaliação criteriosa dos questionários adaptados disponíveis no contexto da cardiologia.
