The fragmentation and habitat loss are the main causes of pollinators decline worldwide, however very little is known about the composition and distribution of neotropical pollinators along continuous micro-environments. To fill this gap, we carried out samplings of Euglossini bees in a continuous area of forest with micro-environments of primary (remnant) and secondary (regeneration) forest of Atlantic Forest. We evaluated the differences in the composition and uniformity of orchid bees in different micro-environments, in order to characterize the responses of the local environmental changes in the attraction of bees to chemical traps. Our results indicated that the composition and uniformity were similar between the two forest fragments studied here, although there are greater abundance of some species by micro-environments. We conclude that the characteristics of the sites in a continuous environment with primary and secondary forest do not seem to have an effect on the composition of the Euglossini fauna, and that the chemical substances are complementary in the attractiveness of the orchid bee males. Thus, our findings suggest that micro-environments in a continuous matrix near forest remnants can help to promote the reintegration of the orchid bee communities and contribute to the conservation of areas in process of forest regeneration.

Energy is a crucial element for human needs today. Traditional systems of energy generation have represented a problem in terms of their costs, their impact on the environment, and their impact on community life. Therefore, the search for clean and renewable energy sources that meet the needs of contemporary society becomes increasingly essential in the search for alternatives related to energy sources. The photovoltaic energy generation system explores the solar irradiation, making it possible to generate and store energy. This system finds good conditions for implementation in Brazil in terms of climatic characteristics, but investments and public policies that encourage and favor this process are still needed. This study aimed to identify how the deployment of photovoltaic mini-generation power plant in a federal university, the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), can contribute to the university community in relation to cost reduction and environmental preservation. The methodology used was descriptive-exploratory, qualitative, through which an open questionnaire and a semi-structured interview were carried out, guided by the theme. After analyzing the data, the conclusion was that the system can bring benefits in the long term and that most of the interviewees consider Brazil's great potential in expanding the exploration of other sources of energy, besides hydroelectric, which, besides being costly, brings fewer advantages related to the environmental and social contexts.

This study assessed the direct impacts of Cachoeira Caldeirão Hydropower Plant (before and during its construction) on the eating habits (fish and wild meat consumption) of the residents in Porto Grande City, Amapá State, Brazil. The study was conducted in 2015, based on a questionnaire for data collection (Sample size = 53) and on comparative analysis for significance (Wilcoxon test, p < 0.05) and correlation (Pearson’s test) assessment. Results suggested significant changes in families’ eating habits. The Wilcoxon test detected three significant variables (p < 0.05): family income, number of species (fish and wild meat consumption) and rate of wild meat consumption per family. Both the Wilcoxon and the Pearson’s correlation tests confirmed two variables (p < 0.05 and r > 0.7): family income versus wild meat consumption before (p value = 0.045; r = - 0.75) and family income versus fish consumption during (p value = 0.0029; r = - 0.83) hydropower plant construction. It can be inferred that the decrease in family fish consumption may be related to changes in the families' eating habits. Changes in diet may have led families to a growing consumption of industrialized and/or ultra-processed foods, very common in geographically isolated Amazon riverside regions with limited access to electricity. Furthermore, families were forced to adapt to a new reality due to environmental changes in their territories.
