“…In view of this situation, it is increasingly evident that the establishment and management of protected natural areas requires considering not only community participation, but also the development of strategies, policies and ideologies regarding community conservation, as an active political process of decentralization requires local-level actors and groups to be able to define what should be preserved (Haller and Galvin, 2008), as well as establishing new forms of environmental governance that are effective and developed in a socially-balanced way with respect to the ambiguous concept of sustainable development as a paradigm in natural resource management (Brenner, 2010); this is because the impact of human activities on environmental conditions and the subsequent environmental and socioeconomic impacts can only be overcome by analyzing the underlying power structures and conflicts among the different groups involved (Brenner, 2009).…”

“…First, it lacked crucial decision‐making power right from the beginning. As it is a discussion forum independent of established political structures, most of the actors involved have been reluctant to yield power and have shown a preference for traditional mechanisms of adding authority to their interests and aims (Brenner 2009). Thus, the MRBF has transformed into a stage to ‘broadcast’ discourses and supporting narratives which becomes apparent as no binding resolutions have yet been passed:…”
