“…The EQ-5D, which was used to assess the quality of life in KNHANES, was also used in this study, as it offers convenience and high validity in terms of the assessment of health-related quality of life in people with OA [ 18 ]. In the EQ-5D, a total of five categories were assessed: Mobility, Self-care, Usual activities, Pain/discomfort, and Anxiety/depression.…”

“…In this study, the values calculated by applying the KNHANES-VI KCDC weight model were used without modification. According to a study by Lim et al, the validity of the EQ-5D in relation to the assessment of the health-related quality of life of people with OA has been verified [ 18 ]. In this study, EQ-5D was used to assess subjects’ quality of life in relation to the OA pain sites (hip joint, knee joint, lower back).…”

“…An EQ-5D validation study confirmed its validity and reliability in the Korean population [ 23 ]. The EQ-5D was also validated for measurement of HRQOL in patients with various rheumatic diseases [ 24 ] and osteoarthritis [ 25 ]. A summary index (EQ-5D index) can be calculated by combining all scores for the five dimensions; the summary index ranges from −0.171 to 1 [ 26 ].…”

“…In the current study, stroke survivors showed significant differences in mobility, usual activities and pain/discomfort by sleep time; compared with those who slept 6–8 h, those who slept ≥9 h had more problems with mobility and usual activities, whereas the rate of pain/discomfort was higher in stroke survivors who slept for ≤5 h or ≥9 h. This might be because although physical, cognitive, communicative and emotional impairments persist for most stroke survivors after its onset, mobility, usual activities and pain/discomfort are directly related to physical impairments; the other EQ‐5D areas – self‐care and anxiety/depression – are not, and might therefore be less affected by sleep time . A previous study of healthy older persons reported no differences in sleep time by strenuous or moderate physical activity; however, the rate of sleeping for 6–8 h in those who engaged in walking, strength exercise or flexibility exercise was high .…”
