A study on Cold-formed Steel Frame Connection: A review

Abstract: Abstract This paper is aimed to review the current researches on Cold-formed steel (CFS) structures, particularly for screw connections, welded connections, bolted connections and adhesive connections. Connection presents as a major parameter of the important elements for CFS framing system in order to attain its structural stability. The performance of different CFS connections is well-discussed in order to capture the behaviour of each type of connection. Based on the review assessment, the results highligh… Show more

“…Design and strength evaluation of the 3D Warren truss-deck members and connections of the bridge model (Figure 2) were conducted based on the National Standard SNI 7971: 2013 [14] and reports [18,19]. To anticipate problems of screw loosening as previously mentioned, in fact the bridge model will dominantly undergo moving or dynamic loads thus amplifies problems of screw loosening, several connections were slightly modified by adding one bolt of 8 mm in diameter into the screw connections.…”

“…Experimental data were gathered using potentiometers and failure pictures aiming to investigate the stiffness of the framing system. Tensile coupon test was also considered from the previous study in order to determine the material properties of the CFS sections [12].…”

“…Furthermore, Komara [12] conducted a research development with a model of variations in the number of screws and the area of adhesive in the connection of lightweight steel roof truss connection including to evaluate the structure of material behavior [13] [14], and [15]. The result is that the combination of the connection between the screw and adhesive can increase the capacity 3-4 times the screw or adhesive joint.…”

Gambar 2.…”
