A series of d10metal coordination polymers based on a flexible bis(2-methylbenzimidazole) ligand and different carboxylates: synthesis, structures, photoluminescence and catalytic properties

Abstract: Six d10metal coordination polymers have been prepared and characterized. Complexes possess structural diversities with interesting topologies and high catalytic activities for the degradation of methyl orange.

“…The measured pXRD patterns of 2, 3 and 4 are very similar indicating that the complexes are isostructural. The differences in intensity may be due to the preferred orientation of the crystalline powder samples [44,45]. The experimental patterns agree satisfactorily with those calculated from the single-crystal X-ray diffraction data.…”

“…Recent researches indeed demonstrated that some coordination compound materials are a new class of photocatalysts usable in photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants under UV/visible/UV-Visible irradiation [17][18][19][20][21]. Based on the richness of metal-containing nodes and organic bridging linkers, as well as the controllability of synthesis, it is easy to construct coordination compound with tailorable capacity to absorb light, and thereby initiating desirable photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants with them as photocatalysts.…”

“…The 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid(2,6-H 2 ndc) and 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid (1,4-H 2 ndc) are typical aromatic dicarboxylic acids, have attracted tremendous attention in constructing MOCPs with elegant architectures and desired properties, which can be attributed to its various coordinating modes, high symmetry and structural rigidity [14][15][16][17][18]. However, the studies on the effect of these aromatic dicarboxylates on the structures and properties of ternary mixed-ligand complexes based on the flexible bis(2-methybenzimidazole) ligands are still limited in literatures.…”
