A review on preclinical studies conducted with Homeopathic medicine Cephalandra indica as an Anti-hyperglycemic agent

Abstract: Background – Diabetes Mellitus a metabolic disorder affects the secretion of insulin from pancreas leading to hyperglycemia, if uncontrolled leads to complications triggered by free radical formed after oxidative stress. Homeopathic medicine Cephalandra Indica has shown antidiabetic activity in various potencies performed on preclinical studies on diabetic rat model. The present review highlights the pharmacological profile of homeopathic preparations Cephalandra Indica on preclinical studies and calcul… Show more

“…Immunomodulation is a kind of regulatory modification in the immune system so as to bring the desired response. 4 The immunomodulatory effects of homoeopathic medicines-Rhus toxicodendron, Mercurius solubilis, Echinacea, Aconitum, Lachesis and Apis 5,6 and homoeopathic combination remedy Canova produced modulation of immune function at multiple levels such as modulation of expression of genes, stimulation of macrophage and polymorph nuclear cells, changes in expression of surface receptors and induction of cytokines. 7 Homoeopathy has substantial scope in pre-clinical research where therapeutic and biological effects of homoeopathic medicines with proper mechanism of action can be traced out with the use of modern molecular techniques in in vivo and in vitro experiments.…”
