A Review on Heat Transfer Enhancement With Nanofluids

Abstract: Advances in technology miniaturization with increasing power density call for new technologies for enhancing heat transfer. Enhancement of heat transfer with the use of nanofluids has been a hectic topic of research and development since the term "nanofluid" was first used in 1995, mainly because the thermophysical properties of nanofluids in most reports in the literature showed supremacy or improvement over their base fluids, which may not allow fulfillment of the present cutting-edge technology needs. “…This are essential fluid properties that determines suitability for heat transfer fluids. Many reports [16,17]on characterization of heat transfer fluids have been presented with fewer studies on biofluids [18]. 5ml for each of the biofluids samples was taken to the laboratory, the measurement was repeated in triplicates.…”

“…In many applications, the geometrical configuration is not regularly-shaped and the convective transport rates can be effectively controlled through a vital geometrical parameter arising in non-regular geometries 36 , 37 . A detailed review and discussion on various constraints affecting nanofluid flow behavior and heat dissipation rate in different geometries and passages have been reported 38 , 39 . The above research works mainly focused on the convective flow of NFs but, the studies pertaining to the rheology of NFs are also very important in the application point of view.…”

“…Desalination of brackish or seawater is one of the most important ways to solve the water scarcity issue 1, 2. The use of solar energy or waste heat sources is acceptable for water‐producing systems of such a small size 3–5. The relevancy of nanomaterials is to realize the best attainable properties within the smallest possible loadings through homogenized distribution and stable suspension of these nanoparticles 6–11.…”
