Communication among healthcare professionals is critical to optimizing patient outcomes, and communication education is incorporated into the educational programs of healthcare professions students. Communication can be a source of stress for new healthcare professionals, however, there is a lack of research on communication apprehension (CA) in healthcare students, especially in nursing education. This scoping review sought to explore CA and factors associated with CA among healthcare professions students. This scoping review report was guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (Tricco et al., Annals of Internal Medicine, 2018, 169, 467–473). Twenty studies of healthcare professions students were included for analysis. The percentage of health professions students with high CA ranged from 0.7% to 27%. Five out of seven intervention studies demonstrated a significant decrease in CA after the intervention. This review identified inconsistent associations between CA and various individual and educational factors. More research is needed utilizing rigorous research designs, designs employing qualitative methodology, and studies to investigate the impact of language on CA in health professions students who speak English as a second language.

The government of Nepal introduced a national health insurance program in 2016 to comply with the constitution and international commitments to ensure universal health coverage by 2030. This qualitative study explores public perceptions and satisfaction concerning the new health insurance program. The study is guided by an interpretive worldview using both in‐depth interviews (IDIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs). Altogether, 34 (28 IDIs and 6 FGDs) events were conducted covering both self‐ and government‐sponsored health insurance enrollees in the new health insurance program. The study found that insurees had larger expectations as well as both favorable and negative perceptions of the program. Positive perceptions included that the program helped to lower the gap between the wealthy and the poor, increase coverage with fewer financial contributions, and make it easier to receive health services financially. Negative perceptions included long waiting times for registration, consultations, laboratory test results, and pharmacy visits, as well as the lack of drugs, inadequate coverage (a low ceiling), low‐quality services, and strict procedures, which combined to make insurees dissatisfied. We noticed that insurees had expectations that went beyond the program's guidelines, such as the expectation that services would be provided without queues and long waits, that additional services and coverage would be provided, and that preference would be shown for patients who lived far from hospitals. Adequate information, education, and communication‐ and process‐related interventions that address these issues may help minimize the insurees' unrealistic expectations and areas of dissatisfaction.

Lubuk larangan is tradition and also a means of communication based on local wisdom in managing the river and forest environment in Kampar Kiri Hulu District, Kampar Regency. This study aims to explain environmental communication pattern based on local wisdom in the management of Lubuk larangan in the Subayang River, Kampar Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method using an interactive model. There were six informants who were selected purposively. The results show that environmental communication is based on the local wisdom of the community that has been passed down from generation to generation. Traditional leaders (ninik mamak) play an important role in conveying messages of environmental concern in preserving the preservation of the forbidden pits (lubuk larangan), rivers and forest. This hereditary tradition forms local wisdom as a form of joint action through deliberation and mutual cooperation activities. The community manages the lubuk prohibition through communication based on customary law, rituals, myths, phrases, proverbs, and the annual tradition of catching fish (mencokou). This channel of communication through customary laws, myths and traditions is very effective in conserving the Subayang river and forest areas. The environmental communication based on local wisdom in the Subayang River contributes to supporting the preservation of natural resources of forests, rivers, fish and existing ecosystems. Stakeholders such as local governments, universities, mass media, NGOs, companies and the community must synergize with each other in developing local wisdom as a tourist area so that it can be of added value.
