Sport and fitness are physical requirements in the same way that humans require food and water. On the other hand, sport and fitness is a highly complex field of study, complicating attempts to define critical terms, resulting in a relative lack of scientometric analysis. The study goal is to look at the development of sport and fitness research around the world, using the Scopus and Web of Science databases as its foundation. Materials and methods. Publications are gathered using the Scopus and Web of Science databases as well as scientometric parameters, including worldwide publication trends, the authors who receive the most citations, the amount of citations, and author keywords. Results. The results show the authors’ keywords analysis was inspected based on their relationship to physical activity, physical exercise, and physical training. The United States was the most active country, with 601 publications. As expected, the United States is a leader in physical activity promotion, with 19.3 percent of the population participating in sports and exercising daily in 2019. The International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health from Switzerland leads 68 publications, which is another noteworthy finding. Additionally, according to this analysis, Ortega, F.B., of the School of Medicine, University of Granada, Madrid, Spain, is the author who publishes the most documents with 33 in total. Conclusions. According to our research, the top five keywords that gained traction over the previous two years were "Cardiorespiratory Fitness," "Body Composition," "Health," "Physical Activity," and "Adolescents." The study value to the field of sports and fitness is that it provides readers and upcoming researchers with a wide range of sports and fitness trends from the past and present. Additionally, the study findings will aid future academics in predicting potential industry trends.

Peer review in the development of academic articles: Experiences of Finnish authors in the educational sciences

This research examined author experiences of the developmental feedback regarding peer review of journal articles. It focused on quite experienced authors in the educational sector of all eight universities in Finland. Data were gathered using an electronic questionnaire, which was completed by 121 respondents. The majority of authors perceived reviewer feedback as developmental and appreciated critical but constructive review. Over 60% of respondents found reviewers usually keen to improve the article and to provide pertinent critique. Less than 8% reported frequent experience of reviewers who were not experts or provided unjustified accusations. A third reported reviewer feedback that was frequently biased or based on different paradigms. The most published authors were the most satisfied with the developmental feedback, but postdoctoral researchers had received more developmental complementary feedback than any other groups. The results indicate that the peer review system remains useful for ensuring article quality, but some attention is still required to ensure developmental feedback that will help the authors enhance their manuscripts.

The study purpose was to look into the production of scientific publications on the Philosophy of Sports and Physical Education. Materials and methods. Scopus and Web of Science databases and various bibliometric indicators such as global publication trends, most active authors, number of citations, and author keywords were used to collect publications. Results. A total of 1103 publications on the philosophy of sport and physical education were found from 1981 to 2021. This review used data in comma-separated values (CSV) format for Scopus, which was then exported to Microsoft Excel and text documents in WoS format, as well as ScientoPy software. The research findings provide information that, from 1981 to 2021, publications experienced a fluctuating trend in quantity. Starting in 2016, publications have reached double digits, with the number of publications reaching 71 documents. The United States is listed as the most productive country with a number of published documents as high as 226 academic scientific works. Ryall, E., University of Gloucestershire, United Kingdom, became the most prolific author with a total of 33 publications. The Department of Philosophy in the United States is at the forefront of publications with 39 documents. Conclusions. A number of limitations in this study are unavoidable. First, the research method used by researchers is not completely perfect, including how to find documents, categorize documents, and document provider databases, which cannot be ignored. Researchers believe that this scientometric research provides important information about future research directions in the philosophy of sport and physical education.
