“…The pooled prevalence of PDPH in this meta-analysis was higher than studies done in Jordan by Khraise et al, 2017 with a prevalence of 6% [ 16 ], Nigeria by Mohammed et al, 2017 with a prevalence of 15.8% [ 18 ], Japan by Makito et al, 2020 with a prevalence of 1.16% [ 19 ] and turkey by Pirbudak et al, 2019 with a prevalence of 10.8% [ 22 ]. Our result is lower than studies done in Ethiopia by Tarekegn et al, 2017 with a prevalence of 42.6% [ 15 ], in Mulago by Nambooze et al, 2019 with a prevalence of 48.8% [ 17 ], in Cuba by Carrazana et al, 2018 with a prevalence of 33.3% [ 20 ] and in Turkey by Uluer et al, 2019 with a prevalence of 30% [ 21 ]. The discrepancy might be due to the variation in sociodemographic characteristics across studies, clinical setup differences, and study design.…”

“…The prevalence of PDPH among the included studies varied from 1.16% [ 19 ] to 48.8 [ 17 ]. Regarding study design, three studies [ 15 , 19 , 20 ] employed a cross-sectional design; four cohort studies [ [16] , [17] , [18] , 27 ] and two RCT studies [ 21 , 22 ]. Furthermore, concerning the study population, 7 studies [ [28] , [29] , [30] , [31] , [32] , [33] ] were conducted only on parturients [ [15] , [16] , [17] , [18] , 20 , 21 , 27 , 34 ] whereas the remaining two were done on all patients from whose we extracted data of cesarean section [ 19 , 22 ] ( Table 1 ).…”

“…For post-dural puncture headache (PDPH), patients were questioned regarding frontal and occipital region headache on the post-operative day 1 and day 2. PDPH was divided into four stages: No headache (0), mild (1-3), moderate (4-6) and severe (7-9 [4]. Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) was assessed by simply asking the patients 4 hours after the closure.…”

“…The PDPH mechanism is unknown, but the standard hypothesis suggests the leakage of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the dural hole. Some variables may lead to PDPH, such as gender, age group, needle size, needle bevel design and direction [4]. Due to its higher success rate, faster onset and high block density spinal anesthesia is widely preferred technique in lower limb surgeries, but it is also associated with some complications, majorly hypotension.…”

“…According to the diagnostic criteria of “3rd Edition of International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-3 beta)", dural puncture headache onsets within five days after the incident of dural puncture, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage in imaging studies and a CSF pressure of less than 60 mmH 2 0 are observed, and it cannot be better characterized by another ICHD-3 diagnosis [ 2 ]. Obstetric patients are at higher risk of PDPH than women in their age-matched group [ 3 ]. The multicenter Serious Complication Repository (SCORE) study reported that PDPH developed in 0.7% of obstetric patients who underwent neuraxial anesthesia.…”
