A numerical and experimental study on the energy efficiency of a regenerative Heat and Mass Exchanger utilizing the counter-flow Maisotsenko cycle

Abstract: In this work, a numerical and experimental study is performed to evaluate the affecting variables on energy efficiency of a novel regenerative evaporative cooler utilizing dew-point indirect evaporative cooling. For first time, an investigation is experimentally and numerically carried out to study the effects of the channel number on important parameters such as product temperature and humidity ratio. Investigations are carried out for five configurations with various channel numbers. The comparison of the nu… Show more

“…The researches above only focused on analyzing the churning losses resulting from different moving parts in pumps, evaluating their influences at different rotational speeds and building up mathematical models for them. The numerical CFD simulation is often used to solve engineering problems (Akbarian et al, 2018;Ez Abadi et al, 2020;Ghalandari et al, 2019). However, using the numerical CFD simulation to predict churning losses is difficult to cite in the research area of traditional axial piston pumps, not to mention in the studies of novel 2D piston pumps.…”

“…More recently, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has been a potential and powerful tool for a further understanding of real case studies for a complex phenomenon (Abadi et al, 2020;Faroughi et al, 2020;Mosavi et al, 2019;Mou et al, 2017;Peng et al, 2018;Salih et al, 2019). From a numerical analytical point of view, Marchesse et al (2011) expanded from 2D to 3D simulations to analyze the gear windage.…”
