A novel dual‐band printed inverted‐F antenna

Abstract: of the printed PIFA show no special distinction when compared with those of the hybrid PIFA shown here. Thus, the radiation patterns of the printed PIFA are not shown for brevity. Figure 10 presents the measured antenna gain and simulated radiation efficiency over the lower and upper bands of the hybrid PIFA studied in Figure 3. For the lower band from 1.88 to 2.75 GHz, the antenna gain is varied in the range of 1.3-2.5 dBi, while the radiation efficiency is about 85% over the band. As for the upper band from … Show more

“…The first step was to design an initial single IFA (Inverted-F Antenna) sized to operate in the low [2.41-2.48GHz] and high [5.1-5.9 GHz] WLAN bands [7]. This IFA consists of two branches for which the longest operates in the lower band, and the shortest in the higher band.…”

“…For implementations, configurations such as printed dipole [1], F-shaped monopole [3], stack inverted-F monopole [2,5,18], double-T monopole [6,7], rectangular slot [8], reconfigurable geometry [9], double S-shaped monopole [10], triangular slot [11], G-shaped monopole [12], C-shaped monopole [13], double ring slot [14], hock-shaped monopole [21], rectangular dielectric resonator [22], shorted parasitic patches [15], double slot-ring [17], loop monopole [18], slotted-patch monopole [19], ring monopole [20], and circular monopole [23] etc., have been developed for WLAN dual-band applications. In which, the stack inverted-F antenna usually be applied for the PCMCIA network card because of the advantage of low profile, low cost, good 50 ⍀ matching, capable integration with circuits and easy mounted [2].…”

And, the modified stack inverted-F antenna was proposed to deliver the properties of diversity and improvements of frequency responses, isolation and radiation gain [5,16].…”

“…Two miniaturized design, one for spiral-shaped radiator of inductive coupling and the other for radiator of capacitive coupling [16] were proposed. Furthermore, extending PIFA design has been explored to achieve different specifications, such as a shunted F-L radiator with wide-high band [17], a stacked inverted-F radiator with wide-low band [18], and a stacked inverted-FL radiator with grounded inverted-L strip that can reduce the antenna size effectively [19]. A trade-off design was considered for small size and radiation efficiency [20].…”
