Abstract:In this article, theoretical models and experimental data coalesce to elucidate structural aspects of glasses produced using sol‐gel and melting methods in the SiO2–CaO–MgO–Na2O–P2O5 system. The influence of the network connectivity on the in vitro bioactive behavior is disclosed. To achieve an accurate prediction of the bioactive response, an empirical method to determine the effective composition of the sol‐gel glasses is first proposed. Finally, the bioactivity limits of glasses as a function of their effec… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
