A new national electrical noise standard in x-band

Abstract

In July 1983 a new UK electrical noise standard for the band 8.2-12.4 GHz was brought into service. The paper describes the physical, thermal and electrical design as well as the methods used to evaluate the device. The results of measurements on a noise tube using the new standard are given and the implications discussed.
