A new image encryption scheme based on coupling map lattices with mixed multi-chaos

Abstract: As a kind of spatiotemporal chaos, coupled map lattice (cML) is widely applied into image encryption because of its advantages of more complex dynamical behavior and lower computational overhead. firstly, this paper proposed a novel spatiotemporal chaos model (McML) by mixing Logistic, Sine and tent maps into cML map together. Beyond that, we also change the structure of cML and the coupling method in different lattices. Bifurcation diagram, Lyapunov exponents and NIST test are employed to measure the chaotic … Show more

“…Information entropy is another criterion for evaluating the performance of a cryptographic method [55,56,57]. For 8-bit gray images, the information entropy value is in the range of 0 and 8, and the optimal value for this parameter is 8.…”

“…One of the most important parameters for evaluating the performance of a cryptographic method is the secret key space and the sensitivity of the keys to minor changes [58,59,60]. The larger secret key space and the higher sensitivity, results more resistance of the cryptographic method to kinds of attacks.…”

“…In 1998, Fridrich 35 used discrete chaotic mapping to scramble the image pixels, and proposed an image encryption system based on chaos. During the last three decades, there have been significant interests in the image encryption algorithm based on chaos system 1 15 , 18 23 , 25 , 28 , 34 – 43 , 51 , 52 . Zhang et al 52 analyzed the dynamic characteristics of the fractional-order chaotic system in detail and designed an efficient image encryption algorithm.…”
