A new 6d fixed point from holography

Abstract: We propose a stringy construction giving rise to a class of interacting and non-supersymmetric CFT's in six dimensions. Such theories may be obtained as an IR conformal fixed point of an RG flow ending up in a (1, 0) theory in the UV. We provide the due holographic evidence in the context of massive type IIA on AdS 7 × M 3 , where M 3 is topologically an S 3 . In particular, in this paper we present a 10d flow solution which may be interpreted as a non-BPS bound state of NS5, D6 and D6 branes. Moreover, by ado… Show more

“…Therefore, the above claim should not be viewed to be in conflict with the recent analysis in [11] (and in particular used, e.g. in [12], for holographic purposes), where some classes of non-supersymmetric AdS extrema in massive type IIA compactifications are found to be even non-perturbatively stable. This analysis is restricted to the closed-string sector, whereas the main take-home message in [9] is that one should worry more about open-string modes when it comes to stability of non-supersymmetric vacua.…”

“…More in general, the range of all possible maximally supersymmetric conformal theories is exhausted by the so-called ADE classification, which can be accessed through geometric engineering in type IIB string theory [3]. When decreasing the amount of supersymmetry down to (1,0), there appears to 2 We refer e.g. to the construction in [1], employing D6-branes in massive type IIA backgrounds.…”

“…The corresponding AdS 7 vacua are dual to N = (1, 0) SCFTs, see for example [4,5]. Some of these SCFTs can be obtained from an orbifold of the N = (2, 0) SCFTs [6,7], and recently, an interest in N = (1, 0) SCFTs has been increased by many new results, see [8,9,10,11,12] for an incomplete list. N = 2 gauged supergravity has been constructed for a long time in [13,14,15].…”
