A multi-objective approach to simultaneous determination of spare part numbers and preventive replacement times

Abstract: a b s t r a c tDifferent models have been proposed in the field of preventive maintenance planning for finding optimal age replacement policies. While previous studies have focused mainly on classical cost objectives, this paper presents a novel multi-objective model for preventive replacement of a part over a planning horizon. The proposed model considers different objectives and practical issues, such as corrective replacement and its consequences, residual lifetime objective, and kind of productivity index.… Show more

“…The ε-constraint method has several advantages including the ability to generate different efficient solutions from various parts of the solution space as well, no need for scaling the objective functions, and simplicity. Its shortcomings include the efficiency of the optimal solution obtained is not guaranteed and the ranges of the objective functions should be specified in order to generate the grid points that will act as RHS (Nosoohi, Hejazi 2011).…”

“…The intent of preventive maintenance is to improve on one or more criteria, such as the maintenance cost, reliability, and availability. On the other hand, corrective maintenance refers to maintenance activities that are performed after the system has experienced a breakdown (Nosoohi & Hejazi, 2011). Usually, all maintenance activities, both corrective and preventive, are performed internally by an internal maintenance department.…”

“…Maintenance activities can be categorised into corrective and preventive. The term corrective maintenance refers to activities that are performed after a system breakdown (Nosoohi & Hejazi, 2011). On the other hand, preventive maintenance, includes inspection and spare part replacement, and is performed before system breakdown.…”
