According to European Society of Cardiology guidelines, the goal of heart failure (HF) management is to provide an effective system of care through the whole patient's journey including hospital and ambulatory pathway. Strategies based on patients' education, psychosocial support and monitoring should be considered as a fundamental part of multidisciplinary disease management programs and may lead to a reduction in mortality and morbidity and improvement in the quality of life. In this article, we focus on patient's education strategies by describing different models: "onetoone" strategies, multidisciplinary care management programs, activation of the family members, pharmaceutical care, and endstage HF advance care planning. Furthermore, we explain the problem of health literacy among HF patients and describe actionable advice on how medical professionals can effectively improve patients' comprehension and know ledge on disease management and the ability for selfcare. Lastly, we review the latest evidence on outcomes obtained by HF education.

Background: Currently, cancer is a major problem of human societies. Different methods are used for cancer treatment including radiotherapy. Radiotherapy affects patients in different ways and makes changes to the quality of life of cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. Objectives: The purpose of this article is to assess the effect of education on the quality of life of cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. Methods: This is a review article with key words including “Education”, “Quality of life”, “Patients”, “Cancer”, and “Radiotherapy” in some Data bases such as Medline, Scopus, Science direct and Ovid during 2000 to 2019. Results: Of the 928 original articles, six papers were selected based on the main criteria, such as English and Persian language, articles of clinical relevance, and articles after 2000. In this study, articles were based on clinical trials on women and men patients with different cancers. Results of this study proved that education is the major component in improving these patients’ quality of life. Conclusion: Radiotherapy, alone or in combination with other therapeutic methods, is among main treatments of cancer patients. Despite its beneficial effects, it is associated with some side effects reducing the quality of life of these patients. Physical and mental complications were equally involved in reducing their quality of life. Based on this finding, it is suggested that the use of educational methods and training and rehabilitation programs can influence the quality of cancer patients treated with various methods, especially radiation therapy.

Background: Adherence to evidence-based therapy is essential for optimal management of heart failure. Yet, medication adherence is poor in heart failure patients. The Ascertaining Barriers to Compliance Project decomposed the medication adherence process into initiation, implementation, and discontinuation stages, but electronic monitoring-based adherence analyses usually do not consider this process. Aims: The aim of this study was to describe individual-patient patterns of medication adherence from electronic monitoring data among adults with chronic heart failure, adherence types, and risk factors for increased all-cause hospitalization including measures of poor adherence such as discontinuation. Methods: Data from two prospective studies of adherence measured with electronic monitoring for heart failure patients were combined and restricted to monitoring of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and beta-blockers over an initial three-month period. Hospitalizations were recorded for this period as well as for a three-month follow-up period. Analyses were conducted using adaptive modeling methods to identify individual-patient adherence patterns, adherence types, and risk factors for an increased hospitalization rate. Results: Using electronic monitoring data for 254 heart failure patients, four adherence types were identified: highly consistent, consistent but variable, moderately consistent, and poorly consistent. Sixteen individually significant risk factors for increased hospitalization rates were identified and used to generate a multiple risk factors model. Medication discontinuation was the most important individual risk factor and most important in the multiple risk factors model. Conclusion: Discontinuation of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors or beta-blockers increases hospitalization rates for heart failure patients. Interventions that effectively address this problem are urgently needed.
