ResumoO presente estudo teve como objetivo adaptar linguística e culturalmente para a população portuguesa o Smartphone Addiction Inventory. Participaram 164 indivíduos, com uma idade média de 29.09 anos (DP=10.15), com um nível de escolaridade maioritariamente ao nível do ensino superior (84.2%). Procedeu-se ao processo de tradução/adaptação do instrumento, em articulação com a equipa que desenvolveu a versão original. Os participantes responderam à versão portuguesa do SPAI, bem como a um breve questionário sociodemográfico e a um questionário de avaliação de sintomas clínicos sugestivos de uso problemático e de dependência de smartphones. A versão portuguesa do SPAI revela apresentar boa fidelidade e uma razoável validade interna e externa. Palavras Chave: adição, smartphone, compulsão, tolerância, abstinência
AbstractThe aim of this study was the linguistic and culturally adaptation to the Portuguese population of the Smartphone Addiction Inventory (SPAI). A cohort of 164 participants, with a mean age of 29.09 (SD=10.15), mostly with college degree was studied (84.2%). Participants answered to the Portuguese version of SPAI, to a demographic questionnaire and to a questionnaire on clinical symptoms of problematic use and dependence on smartphone. The process of translation/cultural adaptation of SPAI was conducted under supervision of the team that was responsible for the original version of the questionnaire. SPAI Portuguese version revealed to present good reliability and reasonable validity. Keywords: addiction, smartphone, compulsion, tolerance, withdrawal Introdução Numa era consensualmente denominada como da informação, em que o uso de novas tecnologias parece assumir uma importância crescente como recurso no contexto educativo, parece igualmente crescente a preocupação de profissionais de educação e de saúde, pais e encarregados de educação com os potenciais efeitos adversos desse uso.É reconhecido que as tecnologias da informação e comunicação (TIC) se tornaram uma parte indispensável de nossas vidas (Salehan & Negahban, 2013) e que assistimos a uma proliferação de dispositivos móveis cada vez mais acessíveis, sendo os smartphones considerados a mais recente evolução das TIC (Oulasvirta, Rattenbury, Ma, & Raita, 2012). Como exemplo da evolução tecnológica referida o telemóvel assumiu-se em pouco mais de 20 anos como um meio de comunicação global, usado para várias tarefas.Num documento publicado em novembro de 2016, o Instituto Nacional de Estatística (INE) revela que 74% das famílias portuguesas têm acesso à internet em casa, sendo que os equipamentos mais utilizados para a ela aceder são os telemóveis/smartphones (78%) e os computadores portáteis (73%).
