A dam assessment support system based on physical measurements, sensory evaluations and expert judgements

Abstract: In engineering system control, human beings can play various key roles, in particular concerning measurement, global assessment and decision. This paper focuses on methods that allow the representation and aggregation of heterogeneous data (sensory evaluations, physical measurements, outputs of mathematical models, etc.) used in a global dam assessment process. It is acknowledged that in such complex systems many of the variables involved are evaluated with uncertainty. We propose a possibility theory-based app… Show more

“…Such could be the case for parameters B (obstruction level) and C (erosion level). The rated defects are higher than reality demands (see also Curt et al, 2011) and the probability of FP increases. Training and longer experience of participants using the form may reduce the number of FP.…”

“…Subsequently, all schemes are often required to aggregate knowledge and information about the performance of a given set of criteria. Curt, Talon and Mauris (2011) used such a scheme to represent and aggregate measurements, sensory evaluations and expert knowledge on dam conditions. The uncertainty embedded in the indicators is generally handled with fuzzy logic theory and expert-based rules (Janssen, Krol, Schielen, Hoekstra, & de Kok, 2010).…”

“…Comme montré par l'application de l'AHP, les évaluations peuvent varier selon les experts. La fusion d'information permet de les combiner (Tacnet, 2009 ;Curt et al, 2011).…”
