Panti asuhan sosial di wilayah DKI Jakarta perlu ditingkatkan kemandiriannya sehingga bisa bertransformasi dari cost center menjadi sebuah lembaga yang mandiri secara ekonomi. Hal ini dapat dilakukan dengan mengembangkan sebuah bisnis dengan konsep bisnis yang ramah lingkungan dan mempunyai dampak positif terhadap masyarakat sekitar (community empowerment). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah framework implementasi bisnis dengan konsep green techno sociopreneur melalui ternak Maggot. Ini merupakan implementasi konsep waste to value, dimana merubah sampah organik menjadi Maggot yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pakan ternak berprotein tinggi. Hal ini akan mengatasi permasalahan sampah pada panti sosial dan masyarakat sekitar secara signifikan, sehingga akan berdampak terhadap penanggulangan masalah lingkungan secara global. Penelitian ini juga berbasis pemanfaatan teknologi tepat guna dengan melakukan redesign mesin pencacacah sampah dengan sistem knock down. Dari uraian di atas, dapat dikatakan bahwa bisnis ternak Maggot ini mempunyai dampak positif terhadap peningkatan ekonomi, lingkungan, dan sosial. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memotivasi semua pihak (akademisi dan praktisi) untuk mengimplementasikan sebuah framework model bisnis green techno sociopreneur yang mengkombinasikan konsep green business model dengan pengembangan teknologi tepat guna.

Today, the circular economy is regarded as a promising alternative for modern economies to preserve “virgin” natural resources for future generations by valorizing waste materials. The concept is also used to promote the goals of sustainable development, where, apart from the environmental dimension, the economic and social dimensions are also integrated. So far, the largest part of the related research has emphasized the environmental and economic dimensions, while little attention has been paid to the social dimension of circular economy. Thus, this paper develops a framework to evaluate the social impacts of circular products and materials throughout their life cycle, which is based on social life thinking, circular economy principles and strategies and social responsibility principles. Moreover, computational examples are presented to show the functionality and applicability of the proposed framework. Finally, critical points for future research are pinpointed in order to assist scholars in applying and improving such frameworks through case studies, helping them to better understand the social aspects of circular economy.

The burgeoning population has endangered the sustainability of urban areas where over half of the total global population will live by 2050. The population growth has increased the rate of waste production noticeably during the recent past. And its disposal and management are a serious environmental problem across the world. The problem is severe in developing nations because of the quick populace rise and urbanization, the absence of funding and policies, and poor and irregular waste management services. Besides, most municipal authorities in developing nations mainly focus on waste disposal and not management. Appropriate management of municipal solid waste (MSW) is essential for accomplishing many United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (UN' SDGs) such as SDG6 "Clean Water and Sanitation," SDG11 "Sustainable Cities and Communities," and SDG12 "Responsible Consumption and Production." This paper assesses the use of diverse systems engineering models and remote sensing, GIS, and GPS for appropriate disposal and management of MSW issues. All the possible sources of related and up-to-date literature have been accessed and more than 210 publications were collected and thoroughly analyzed for this review. The past literature analysis revealed that the cost-benefit analysis models were used to appraise a waste management system's positive and negative economic effects. In contrast, optimization models were used to reach the best solution among several options, considering a set of objectives. The analysis also revealed that the GPS applications were primarily done for tracking waste bins and collection vehicles for monitoring collection time and location. Moreover, the investigation revealed that the combined applications of GPS and GIS techniques performed better than their specific applications. The analysis of numerous global case studies disclosed that political, socioeconomic, hydrological, geological, and environmental factors should be taken into account for a proper landfill siting.
