A Comprehensive Review of the Structure Elucidation of Tannins from Terminalia Linn.

Abstract: Objectives Tannins with complex structures are important plant resources, which are abundant in the genus Terminalia. Various Terminalia species have been playing an important role in traditional medicine system. A systematic scoping review of Terminalia Linn. research literature for tannins was conducted to summarize the structures of tannins and analysis fragmentation pathway characteristics, which could provide references for the structural analysis of tannins from Terminalia Linn. Methods After an update o… Show more

“…secondary metabolite profiles of calli were influenced by nutrient, temperature, light, growthregulating substance, and carbon source [26,37,38]. This result is different from the study results of Syamkumar et al [39], which states that the metabolite profiles of callus compounds and leaves are identical.…”

“…These compounds also have high solubility in methanol and could therefore be in large quantitative in the present sample. T. mollis extract also contain other active compounds including urolithins and benzopyranones, which are cystein protease inhibitors [46][47][48]. The plant has been tested and showed good antioxidant activity attributed to ellagitannins, ellagic acid, as well as condensed tannins such as catechin, epicatechin, gallocatechin and apigallocatechin as well as garlic acid and derivates [49,50].…”
