The interpersonal difficulties of university students may affect their academic performance. Regarding students who manifest perfectionist automatic thoughts, they tend to show difficulties in heterosexual relationships. This research aimed to examine the relationship and predictive capacity of constructs related to perfectionism on difficulties in relationships with people of the opposite sex. 1298 Ecuadorian university students were recruited. 51.8% of the sample were men (n = 672). The Perfectionism Cognition Inventory and the Cuestionario de Evaluación de Dificultades Interpersonales en la Adolescencia were answered by the participants. Statistically significant differences were found in the different variables of perfectionistic automatic thoughts (i.e., Perfectionist Concerns, Perfectionist Demands, and Perfectionist Efforts) according to high and low levels of difficulties in heterosexual relationships. It was also found that the variable Perfectionist Efforts is a negative and significant predictor of high difficulties in heterosexual relationships. However, the variables Perfectionist Concerns and Perfectionist Demands are a positive and significant predictor of high levels in this type of interpersonal difficulties. All these results confirm that perfectionist automatic thoughts are related and are predictors of difficulties that Ecuadorian university students manifest in their heterosexual relationships.

The aim of this article was to find out how the cognitive dissonance resulting from the occurrence of institutional incongruence in the context of copying information goods in online society is reduced. The implementation of this goal required conceptualization work and empirical research. The conceptual part was based on the theory of cognitive dissonance by Festinger as well as works on the concept of institutional congruence. The essence of the conceptualization work was the formulation of the concept of institutional incongruence, which leads to a cognitive dissonance that requires reduction. The empirical research conducted on Polish internet users in August 2020 was designed to allow to determine whether there is an institutional incongruence in the area of copying information goods, and how the possible dissonance resulting from such incongruence is reduced. A survey study conducted on a random sample of 1000 respondents (with a standard error of 3%). The survey took the form of a questionnaire distributed among respondents via the Badanie‐Opinii.pl research panel, property of the Biostat Research and Development Centre. Empirical research has shown that institutional incongruence is largely imaginary (a kind of cognitive bias). In the context of dissonance reduction, there were found several forms of it: (1) the downplaying of the phenomenon of unauthorized copying, (2) an attitude that completely ignores the problem of unauthorized copying, and (3) an attitude that assumes that any form of unauthorized copying is simply “piracy.”

Turning Pirates into Subscribers: A Status Quo Bias Perspective on Online Movie Service Switching Intention

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence a person's intention to use a subscription-based streaming service application using the perspective of the inertia of piracy movie application users. This study investigates the factors that affect the inertia of movie piracy application users. The theory used is a combination of the status quo bias theory and coping theory. This research uses a quantitative approach and an online survey method for data collection. Data collection resulted in 378 responses that were subsequently analyzed using the covariance-based structural equation modeling (CB-SEM) technique. It was found that inertia (the level of user inertia) negatively affects intention to use (the intention to use a subscription-based streaming service application) and convenience. In addition, convenience, perceived controllability (a person's level of control over the application), and morality positively influence intention to use. Furthermore, it was also found that perceived cost and personalization do not affect the intention to use. Inertia is also positively and significantly influenced by the transition cost (effort to move). The factors that have the highest correlation values are transition cost and inertia.
