Objectiveto relate nonspecific low back pain within the nursing work context with their workloads, attrition processes and the risks of illness.Methoda cross-sectional study with 301 workers from a general hospital in the south of the country. The Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire and the Work Context Assessment Scale composed of three dimensions were used: working conditions, work organization and socio-professional relations. The association of variables with low back pain was tested using bivariate and multivariate analyzes. The measure of association used was the Odds Ratio and its respective intervals with 95% confidence. The data collected were discussed under the theoretical framework of the work process within the marxist conception and the theory of social determination of the health-disease process.Resultsthere was a statistically significant association between the dimensions of work organization and working conditions with low back pain and they obtained a critical classification meaning moderate risks to the professional illness.Conclusionthe study allowed a better understanding of the nursing work process and its relation with nonspecific low back pain and signaled that changes in the organization and working conditions should occur in order to reduce the risks of nursing workers’ illness.

Health promotion by nursing technicians from the nurses’ perspective

Objective: to analyze education and practice of nursing technicians in health promotion, from the perspective of teaching nurses of technical course and Primary Health Care nurses. Method: an exploratory study with qualitative data analysis, carried out in the city of São Paulo, through semi-structured interviews with nine public technical professors and 16 nurses from the basic health network. Data thematic analysis was carried out. Results: three thematic categories have emerged: Conceptions and experiences on health promotion; Nursing technician’s practice in health promotion; and Nursing technician education on health promotion. Final considerations: it is necessary to review the centrality given to technicalism in the education and practice of nursing technicians, contemplating the health promotion and seeking the development of professional competence for the construction of transformative practices aimed at valuing the autonomy and proactivity of the people in health and quality of life production.

Capacidade para o trabalho e qualidade de vida de trabalhadores atendidos na atenção primáriaWork ability and quality of life of workers attended in primary care Capacidad para el trabajo y calidad de vida de trabajadores atendidos en la atención O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar a capacidade para o trabalho e a qualidade de vida de trabalhadores atendidos pela rede pública municipal de saúde de Uberaba-MG, e identificar possíveis associações entre capacidade para o trabalho, qualidade de vida e características sociodemográficas, econômicas e ocupacionais. Estudo transversal, envolvendo 111 trabalhadores avaliados com um questionário sobre características sociodemográficas, econômicas e ocupacionais; SF-36 para avaliação de qualidade de vida e do Índice de Capacidade para o Trabalho, no período de março a outubro de 2013. Para análise dos dados empregou-se estatística descritiva, teste Mann-Whitney e correlação de Spearman. A amostra foi composta em sua maioria por mulheres, com menos de 44 anos e ativas no trabalho. A capacidade para o trabalho apresentou associação significativa com idade, escolaridade, tempo de afastamento do trabalho, e com todos os domínios da qualidade de vida. Sugere-se ações de preservação da capacidade do indivíduo no trabalho e melhorias na qualidade de vida. Descritores: Qualidade de vida;Avaliação da capacidade de trabalho; Saúde do trabalhador.
