A 1.12mW Continuous Healthcare Monitor Chip Integrated on a Planar Fashionable Circuit Board

Abstract: Recently, several research results have been reported on the integration of electronics with textiles such as the wearable computer and e-textiles [1][2][3]. Most of the previous works were based mainly on conducting threads, yarns, and woven fabrics to implement the interconnections, like the wearable motherboard [4]. For the integration of the IC with fabric, they placed the silicon chip on a flexible plastic board and then integrated the plastic board on the fabric [1][2][3][4]. However, the plastic board i… Show more

“…The fiber was also integrated with computer [153], naming Planar Fashionable Circuit boards (P-FCB) for sweat monitoring using RFIP tag antennas. P-FCBs were also associated with ECG monitoring [154], physiological signal monitoring [155] and as a health monitoring system [156,157]. Another application to the fiber based systems is a motion sensor [158], temperature sensor [159], etc.…”

“…Fig. 7 shows the tetra-polar APW electrodes implemented based on the Planar-Fashionable Circuit Board (P-FCB) technology [3,4]. Thanks to the P-FCB-based tetra-polar dry electrodes for APW measurement, the proposed device can be easily removable without skin irritation.…”
